Nizambad MP Kavita accused union urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu of regional feeling. This is for the first time Naidu came under fire for his alleged partiality towards Andhra Pradesh at the cost of Telangana from a first time MP. For quite some time there has even been talk of some understanding between union minister Naidu and chief minister KCR. However, suddenly, Kavita, tagged him with regional impropriety.

Kavita lashed out at Venkaiah Naidu for what she termed step motherly treatment for Telangana state in the implementation of Housing program. She alleged Venkaiah Naidu was skewed towards Andhra as he hailed from the state. Reacting on the urban housing program being implemented by the ministry under the control of Naidu, she said allocation of mere 10,000 houses for Telangana and staggering 1.93 lakh houses for Andhra Pradesh ,shows the minister’s partiality towards Andhra Pradesh.

“While Prime Minister Modi talks of cooperative federalism what we are seeing is the political federalism,” she said. Disapproving of the regional feeling of Venkaiah Naidu she said all the MPs from Telangana would raise the point and apathy towards Telangana by Venkaiah Naidu in Winter session of the Parliament.

” What is the yard stick for the allotment of 2 lakh houses for Andhra Pradesh, and just 10,000 houses for Telangana,” she asked. According to Kavita, centre should have come to the rescue of Telangana as the state had embarked on building of two- bed room houses for all poor which needs support from the centre for it successful completion.

” In our program we spend lakhs of rupees on two-bed room house. The centre just gives Rs 75,000 per house. And they allocated 10,000 houses for the entire state while my constituency alone requires 75,000 houses. Is it not injustice to the state of Telangana. We won’t take it lying down,” Kavita, daughter of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, remarked.

Kavita met chief minster today to thank him for the allotting 1500 double-bed room houses for her constituency. On the other side, Venkaiah Naidu, who is incidentally in Hyderabad, defended his allocation of 1.9 lakh houses to Andhra Pradesh.

“Andhra Pradesh suffered a lot in the bifurcation of the state. Centre has the obligation to come to the rescue of the state which is struggling to come out of the problem. The union government has finalized allocation of houses to various states based on the proposals and requirements,” Naidu said.
