West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Bennerjee is by herself an aspiring prime ministerial candidate in 2019 election. But her dream will not come true considering the Congress becoming stronger now after winning 3 state assembly elections recently and Rahul Gandhi making a strong bid for PM post.By all means, Mamata has to wait and do a balancing act. She has to be with the majority parties in the anti-BJP group. It is clear KCR’s Federal Front is yet to make a beginning. These are the few reasons why Mamata Bennerjee took light of KCR’s proposal and gave him a cold response. After the meeting with KCR concluded, Mamata told the media in clear terms that full clarity was yet to emerge on the Federal Front. On his part, KCR said there was no hurry to form the front now and that they would hold a meeting soon to discuss how to take forward this effort. As of now, KCR is the only leader talking about the Federal Front and he is the architect of this. Odisha CM Navin Patnak has not given any commitment to KCR nor did Mamata. But KCR seems determined to continue his efforts saying there is more time.

The hard fact is there is not much time for bringing together a front as the 2019 general election is fast approaching. This poll is due in April-May 2019 and there is talk of advancing it a month or two. Why is KCR still pursuing his front? It all seems TDP’s fears are coming true that KCR is bent more on dividing anti-BJP vote bank in the country rather than providing a third alternative.
