As the people in Visakhapatnam area are in agitation mood after the Narendra Modi government has `ignored’ their decades-old rightful demand for Railway Zone in the city, the YSR Congress Party has decided to intensify the agitation by organising a `Padayatra’ from Anakapalli to Bhimili.

Making this announcement in Visakhapatnam today, party’s senior leader and former minister Botsa Satyanarayana gave a deadline for the Central and the State Government to announce on the issue by March 9.

Criticizing the central and state governments for ignoring the people of Andhra Pradesh, he said that the Padayatra would be undertaken if the Centre fails to make a decision on the Railway Zone. The YSRCP leader further informed that the Padayatra spanning 250 km would be led by party district president Gudivada Amarnath.

Botsa Satyanarayana even castigated Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for celebrating particularly when the Annual Union Budget had nothing to offer to AP adding that the TDP leaders were making money through land-pooling.

Meanwhile, YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy today visited Kadapa district wherein he inspected the Paidipalem Reservoir, envisaged to irrigate 41000 acres of farmland in the district. The project was initiated by his father late YS Rajasekhar Reddy, during his regime as the Chief Minister of the united Andhra Pradesh, 80 percent of the works were completed.

He deplored that Chandrababu Naidu has been taking undue credit for the irrigation projects that YSR has taken to the level of near completion. He said this project which was taken to near completion by YSR by allocating over Rs 600 crores. Chandrababu Naidu has inaugurated the project and claimed that it was a dream project of his, though he did very little for the project. During his three years in office Chandrababu Naidu has released just Rs 24 crores, he added.

He accused him of starving irrigation projects in the district, leaving farmers in the lurch. He said that the Rayalaseema region would have got the irrigation facility only if the current government spent another Rs 300 crores.
