Gone are the days when the audience rushed to theatres to watch their favorite stars on the silver screen irrespective of the content and the genre. The new-age audience are focused on the content and are deciding whether to watch a film in theatres or in the OTT space. The films of several top stars have suffered to register decent openings in recent times. At the same time, if the content is impressive, small films and films without stars are doing wonders.
The results of the previous films are also impacting the openings of the new films of our actors. Most of our Tollywood young actors have delivered debacles and their recent offerings failed to report decent openings. The films of actors like Varun Tej, Ram, Nithiin and others haven’t opened on a strong note recently. Nani is the only Tollywood actor who has been consistent in delivering decent films. All his films post-Covid have opened on a strong note and most of them were decent. His films also received good appreciation in the digital space. Digital giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime are offering big prices for his films.
Most of the Tollywood stars are not consistent and their market is unpredictable. It all depends on the buzz generated, the technicians involved and the production house that backs the film. But for Nani, it is different. It is the actor who is pulling the audience to theatres. Nani never worked with star directors and he himself is the major USP of his films. He is undisputed and on the top when it comes to crowd pulling among the young Tollywood actors.
