Duvvada Jagannadham Overseas Share Full Run

Allu Arjun, Pooja Hegde starrer ‘ Duvvada Jagannadham ‘ had collected a gross of $1,148,725 in USA by the end of its full run. This film had a decent start in USA with first weekend gross of $885,000 but took a nose dive then after.

Post release promotion strategies by the makers caused further dent in overseas, on top of the mediocre web reviews. Especially director Harish Shankar’s loose talk irked the media, a section of mega fans and common audience equally. Even the 2nd week promotion tour in USA by the team could not fetch desired collection. We had tracked the collection in cities where the unit had toured. To everyone’s surprise, the collection was in few hundreds of dollars on the tour days and subsequent day.

Overall, full run USA share for this film is $477,108 [ 3 Crore 05 Lakhs]. After acquiring overseas rights for 8 crores, distributors had sold DJ for 1.4 crores, to third parties, in non-USA market. Thus, remaining 6.6 crores were at stake in USA alone.

With a minimum of 6.6 crore recovery at stake in USA, DJ was able to generate a final share of only 3 Crore 5 Lakhs.

Note : Apparently, compared to Duvvada Jagannadham, Pawan starrer Katamarayudu had fetched higher amounts ( pre-release) from local exhibitors.
