Essel World is planning to join hands with state government in the development of Island Tourism  in Coastal Andhra.

The state government today in its bid to rope in major companies in developing the state into an important tourist destination, invited Essel World for participation.

Today, Ashok Goel, VC and MD, Essel World called on  chief minister Chandrababu Naidu with a team of company’s functionaries at secretariat. Briefing them about the tourism potential of Andhra Pradesh Naidu unveiled his plans for making the state  a major tourist destination in South India.

The transformation of Andhra Pradesh into a tourist destination and exploiting the potential of islands in Godavari and Krishna districts was the major theme of the meeting chief minister Naidu had with representatives of Essel World.

In tune with the state government thinking, the Essel group also evinced keen interest in participating in the development of Island tourism in Andhra Pradesh. Responding to chief minister Naidu’s call, the Essel representatives said they were ready to prepare environmental-friendly reports for the Island tourism. They also informed the chief minister that they had plans to construct a multi-storied centre for fun and recreational purposes. The CM asked them to come up with a report on the areas they are interested as for as the state tourism development is concerned.

According sources, state is likely to rope in Essel World into its ambitious plan of converting island villages coastal Andhra Pradesh into tourist attractions. “Andhra Pradesh tourist development corporation has identified six island villages and toying with the idea of approaching a private agency to get a DPR prepared on the development potential of the villages,” the sources said adding that these villages had potential to attract the foreign tourists because of their unique culture. ” We can introduce unique country life of island villages and the coastal delicacies to the foreign tourists,” the sources said. Essel Worlds meeting with the CM assumes significance in  view of the state’s plans to integrate the Akhanda Godavari development project with tourism.
