Despite of back to back failures, he stood strong without losing patience and his passion for cinema made him tall as an actor. It took 10 complete years for him to taste success after his first hit Athanokkade and it was Pataas which brought him a huge relief as an actor and even as a producer. He is none other than Nandamuri Kalyanram who is testing his luck with his latest outing ISM directed by Puri Jagannadh. The movie is gearing up for release on October 21st all over and here is interview with Kalyanram:
What is ISM all about?
ISM is all related to ideology and philosophy. It can be defined in any aspect and we have been trying to show a new ISM. It is not Puri Jagannadh’s ISM or Kalyanram’s ISM.
Which ISM do you believe in your life?
Humanism is the best ISM I believe.
Does your film discuss about Panama Papers and Black Money?
Yeah, our film stands on a strong social message which has been conveyed iwht a strong narration. We have a completely different plot in the film which is completely unusual. We have not discussed about Panama Papers as the incident took place recently. But our script has been finalized before that.
Heard that there are lot of satires on journalists?
I play a journalist in the movie and I play satires on myself. I am not habitual to think in a negative aspect in any point of time and I have even never tried it. Hence I cannot clarify about the negative aspects of the movie.
Puri has a different style and you are completely different. How did both of you match your styles for ISM?
ISM showcases a completely new and different film from what audience expect. You will see a new directorial touch of Puri Jagannadh which you never witnessed. At the same time, I have taken special care on my dressing, body language, hair style and dialogue delivery. ISM is the best film in our careers for sure.
Why are you so confident on ISM?
I had goose bumps after watching the film on screen. I knew my dialogues and the scenes I have done. But still I was thrilled after watching the movie. I am pretty confident on the film. Our hard work will sure be paid off.
Whose idea was to showcase you in six pack?
When Puri Jagannadh narrated the script, he wanted me to shed huge weight to look lean for the character. I lost over 10 kgs in three months and in this process I tried six pack. It is an old fashion though (Smiles..).
Why did you try sixpack for ISM?
The character of the actor in the film has strong mentality and his ideologies are completely unique. I felt that six pack would be great enough for the role.
Puri praised about the court scenes from the film. What do you say?
That is a great compliment and I am quite delighted. I will talk about it after the film’s release. Everyone will love the episodes.
Did Tarak watch ISM?
No, he still did not watch the movie. But he knows about the film completely and he has been following the updates. He viewed the theatrical trailer of ISM even before me.
You have been transforming yourself for every film?
Yes, I have been trying different films and gaining maturity for every movie. Hope I am learning many things and improve everyday as an actor.
What happened to Vakkantham Vamsi’s film?
It is currently kept on hold.
Any special reasons?
Actually, we are not completely impressed with the script and he is working on a better script. We will come with an update soon.
Did he feel that you did not like the script?
It is better to reveal frankly before materializing a film. After the movie is being made and after it turns to be a debacle, we cannot blame each other. We are good friends and we will work together soon in the coming days. I lost so much in my life till date without saying ‘NO’.
