Promotion is very important part of the movie and success of the movie at times depend on proper promotion. Sometimes actors and makers try to promote their movie in a way that misleads people to think it is real incident rather than movie promotion and by the end, they will realize it’s part of movie promotion. But by the time they realize, movie name and other details are firmly registered in their minds. In old days, this kind of tactics worked but nowadays, as audience are more aware and expect celebrities to be responsible in social media, such misleading promotions are backfiring.

Priyadarsi bike drama backfired, Sandeep Kishan apologized

Priyadarsi recently posted through social media about his bike being stolen by some unprofessional thief. Apparently, he wanted to give some promotion for Sandeep Kishan movie ‘Ninu veedani needanu nene’. However, some netizens thought it is a real incident and asked him for details. Meanwhile, Hyderabad city police responded and asked him for the location where the incident happened. Priayadarsi realized that this post is taken seriously rather than as promotional stuff and immediately deleted the video. Later Sandeep Kishan clarified that it was a promotional activity for his film ‘Ninu veedani needanu nene’ and apologized for misleading people.

Recently, case filed on Bhagamati actress for such misleading promotional video:

Remember the actress who played the role of police officer in Anushka’s Bhagamati movie? She is Asha Sharat and she is prominent actress in Malayalam. She played police officer role in Malayaam Drishyam movie too. Nadia played her role in Telugu. She recently released a video in facebook, in which she looked shattered and revealed that her husband had gone missing. She also requested the general public to help her, so that she can find her lost husband. She also asked people to contact Kattappana police station if they find any clues about her husband’s details. The video was so real and response came from public for further details and many people sympathized with her. The video went viral, and got more than one million views within a few hours. People, in fact, started digging more details to help her.

But later it was found all of this is a gimmick to promote her movie ‘Evide’, that revolves around the story of a middle-aged woman who is in search of her lost husband. After knowing this, people started criticizing her vehemently for misusing social media platform. A lawyer from Kerala has even filed a police complaint against her for uploading the misleading video.

Overall, it seems these actors and filmmakers need to be extra cautious nowadays as audience are more aware and any attempt to fool them or trick them has high chances of backfiring. Rather than such tricks, if the makers concentrate on the right content that can strike chords with audience, people themselves will do mouth publicity for the movie and that is the strongest form of publicity than all other kinds.
