The formal recognition of Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh by Parliament has marked a decisive moment in the state’s political journey. Following this development, TDP national general secretary and minister Nara Lokesh expressed gratitude to leaders in Delhi who supported the cause. His visit to the national capital was not symbolic. It reflected a focused effort to consolidate political goodwill and reinforce the state’s position at the Centre.
Lokesh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and conveyed thanks on behalf of the people of Andhra Pradesh. He emphasised that Amaravati is not just a capital project. It represents the aspirations of millions. He also sought continued guidance from the Prime Minister to transform Amaravati into a world-class capital city.
After the meeting, Lokesh shared an emotional message highlighting the sacrifices of farmers who gave up their land for the capital. He explained how these farmers stood firm through years of uncertainty. He reaffirmed that building a strong and modern Amaravati is the best way to honour their commitment. This message added a human dimension to what is often seen as a policy decision.
Lokesh’s approach in Delhi stood out for its depth and discipline. He did not limit his efforts to a single meeting. He personally met several Members of Parliament who spoke in favour of Amaravati and thanked them individually. This gesture signalled political maturity and respect for consensus-building. It also strengthened relationships beyond party lines.
He also witnessed the passage of the bill in the Rajya Sabha from the visitors’ gallery. Following this, he held discussions with national leaders across parties. His ability to engage with different political groups on a common issue drew attention. Observers noted that his focus remained on the state’s interests rather than partisan advantage.
National leaders who interacted with Lokesh described him as a composed and determined young leader. His role in navigating a complex political situation and achieving a clear outcome has enhanced his profile. The visit has positioned him as a key figure in shaping the future political direction of Andhra Pradesh.
