In a first major community benefit to the residents of Amaravati region, Andhra Pradesh government today announced a major concession to students belonging to the families capital region, which are affected by the capital development project.

Implemening the assurance it has given go residents of the region by chief minister Chandrababu Naidu , government will provide free education to all the residents of the Amaravati capital city area residing as on 8th December, 2014. All the students of Andhra Pradesh Capital Region will get the reimbursement of tuition fee in Government and recognized polytechnics, professional colleges and universities.

The government today approved the guidelines framed by the APCRDA for the purpose. As per the guidelines, students, who were residents as on 8th December, 2014 in the Amaravati Capital City Area, irrespective of the parental income or community, studying in the eligible colleges, and not already covered under other categories such as Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Backward Classes/ Minorities/ Physically Challenged are eligible for the tuition fee reimbursement under scheme.

The scheme will be applicable for a period of ten years starting from the academic year 2015-16. Those who become eligible during the terminating year of the scheme will be continue to get benefits under this scheme till the completion of their course.

The entire expenditure of the scheme will be borne by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority. To ensure that the first flagship welfare scheme for the residents, who offered their land for the cause of capital construction, the government will release the budget in half-yearly advances to the Commissioner, APCRDA . As it is the statutory obligation on part Government towards the people of the capital region, the government is taking foolproof measures to implement the scheme. While Backward classes welfare department is the implementing agency, District Backward Classes Welfare Officer (DBCWO) is officer responsible for implementation under the supervision of district collector.
