Former Andhra Pradesh minister and senior YSR Congress Party leader Perni Nani has landed in fresh legal trouble. Police have registered a criminal case against him over allegedly offensive remarks targeting Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
The case was booked under Sections 196(1), 353(2), 351(2), and 352. Police sources indicate that notices may be issued soon, and Perni Nani could be summoned for questioning. The development has intensified political heat around the YSR Congress Party.
The controversy stems from an event held two days ago in Chatraayi of Eluru district. Perni Nani attended a YSR statue unveiling program, where he allegedly made personal and provocative comments against Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan. Videos and statements from the event quickly spread, triggering sharp reactions from ruling party supporters.
Leaders of the Telugu Desam Party lodged a formal complaint at the Inagudurupeta Police Station in Machilipatnam. They accused Perni Nani of using abusive language and making statements capable of inciting public discord. Acting on the complaint, police registered the case without delay.
Past Cases Add to Perni Nani’s Legal Burden
The fresh case comes on top of earlier legal troubles involving alleged irregularities in ration rice diversion. Perni Nani was named as A6 in that case after investigators traced financial transactions linked to the accused. Police reportedly collected digital payment records and bank transaction details during the probe. In a related development, Perni Nani’s wife, Perni Jayasudha, who is listed as A1 in the ration rice case, has already appeared for questioning. She was examined for over two hours at the Bandar Taluk Police Station. Though she has secured anticipatory bail, the court has directed her to fully cooperate with the investigation.
Authorities are also probing allegations of fake land patta distribution in Machilipatnam. Revenue officials suspect that non existent land parcels were shown as government land and pattas were issued using fabricated survey numbers. Investigators are examining whether forged signatures were used and who authorized the printing and distribution of these documents. Officials believe the operation may have taken place under the supervision of Perni Nani and his close associates. A detailed verification of revenue records is currently underway, and stricter action is expected once the inquiry is completed.
