spyder movie pre release business

When Mahesh Babu and AR Murugadoss collaborated for a film, it was expected to create hype in business circles and do huge business. Buoyed by the expanded market and widened reach of Telugu cinema post ‘Baahubali’ franchise, SPYder seems to have lived up to the expectations as far as pre-release business is concerned.

SPYder has become the only 4th South Indian film to do 150 Cr Pre-Release Business including non-theatrical rights. Earlier Baahubali, Rajinikanth’s Kabali and Baahubali2 have achieved this feat.

The high-tech action thriller raked in over 120 Cr from the worldwide theatrical rights. This amount is a crore more or less to the money pumped in by the producers to make the film on a grand scale. The 35 Cr recovered through Satellite and Audio rights is the profit of the producers.

Below is the territory-wise break-up of distribution deals:

AreaPre-Release Business
Nizam 20 Cr
Ceded 12 Cr ratio
UA 8.1 Cr
Guntur 7.2 Cr
East 6 Cr
Krishna 5.4 Cr
West 5.04 Cr
Nellore 2.9 Cr
AP and TS66.6 Cr
Karnataka 10.80 Cr
Kerala 1.26 Cr
TN 17 Cr
North 1 Cr valued
Overseas 23 Cr
Worldwide 119.7 Cr
Satellite 33 Cr
Audio 2 Cr
Total 154.7 Cr

The deals for non-Telugu language rights are next only to “Baahubali 2” for a Bilingual film. Coming to the Telugu states, the deals are not so record-breaking. In comparison, the films starring Pawan Kalyan have done better business. Since the film seems to be high on intelligence, buyers of the Telugu states haven’t invested huge fearing the film may not do wonders in B,C centres.

Popular dubbing artiste-cum-actor Ravi Shankar, younger brother of Sai Kumar, has dubbed for the villain character essayed by SJ Suryah. SPYder has a crisp runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes, 5 minutes extra for titles. Pre-release event will be held on 15th of this month. September 27 is the D Day.
