Much to the surprise of TDP leader, noted backward classes leader and Telangana Telugu Desam MLA from LB Nagar, Hyderabad, today called on leader of opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy, though on an issue not connected to the flavor of the season, defections.

Krishnaiah met Jagan at Lotus Pond office to present a fourteen-point memorandum and requested him to write a letter to the union government demanding implementation of these long pending issues.

Even though , Krishnaiah raised issues purely concerned with the welfare of the backward cases, he is not supposed to meet the opposition leader Jagan, who is an arch rival of the Telugu Desam party. And one should not forget, Krishnaiah is a member for a party , whose leader thinks that he is all-powerful with regard to the centre. Can Jagan do which the Naidu can’t do?

Here, the fact that Krishnaiah is a BC leader is immaterial. What is important is he is TDP MLA and should treat the YSRC leader as the enemy of the party. The meeting of Krishnaiah and Jagan is definitely a matter of embarrassment for the TDP supremo, though there won’t be any immediate reaction.

Krishnaiah says he called on Jagan as part of his campaign for the implementation of long pending demands pertaining to backward castes and it had nothing to do with the politics of YSRC or TDP.
” I have requested leader of opposition Jaganmohan Reddy to write a letter to the centre on the 14 demands I have submitted to him. We want extension of reservation to BCs to private sector.

Reservations in the Assembly and Parliament. Increase of BC reservation to 50 per cent. Reservation in the appointment of judges in the higher judiciary. I have met Jagan as I had met other political leaders of the Telugu states,” he said.

He also said he had briefed Jagan about the loss to BCs if the Kapu were to be included in the list of BCs. Krishnaiah has been opposing Naidu for his assurance to Kapus that the community would be included in the BC list for extension of reservations. Since Krishnaiah is a man of stature among the BCs, Naidu can’t afford to invite the ire of BCs by stalling Krishnaih from carrying BC activities. He may strike at later in 2019.
