The Telugu language and culture once again spread its sweet fragrance in the Ugadi celebrations conducted on Saturday in NewCastle, England. These wonderful festivities were held under the auspices of North East Telugu Group.
The day started with the lighting of the lamp by Surekha. This followed by Medhangi Parameswaran describing the mixture of different emotions and experiences in life and how this is reflected in the Ugadi pachadi which is a mixture of different tastes.
Lord Mayor of Newcastle Iam Graham, who was the chief guest at the festivities, said that the diversity of world cultures has made the city even more beautiful. After his speech, Lord Mayor was felicitated by Dr KV Rao.
Dr Madhu Adala stated that the main purpose in organising the Ugadi celebrations is to present the rich and diverse Telugu culture and traditions to the Telugu diaspora which is living many miles away from motherland.
The cultural programs that were conducted as part of the celebrations were well appreciated by the hundreds of Telugu families which came from many North East regions. Baahubali movie which created quite a sensation recently was presented as a dramatic narration by children of different age groups and this was such a fascinating performance that captivated the audience. This drama was the highlight of the celebrations. Amudha Manoharan provided excellent light and sound curation for the performance. One could also see Lord Mayor Iam Graham happily keeping rhythm with the songs during this performance. Gayatri Adala, Usha Kodali, Priya Bandi choreographed the dramatic performance.
The cultural programs that followed were a rich sensory treat. The Kuchipudi dance by Nrityashri Payal Ramachandani’s and the Bharata Natyam dance by Tanvi Manchineni, Keertana Adala, Vibha Hemanth mesmerised the audience. Another performance ‘fusion’, the enthralling dance program was a message in recognising the differences in traditional and modern dance and in respecting the uniqueness in each culture and tradition.
Dr Priya Bandi, Swathi Kotagiri, Dr Madhavi Gudipati, Deepthi penukonda charmed the audience with their dance performance.
Akshara Saranga, Anjali Adala, Bhavadharani Raja, Bhinitha Raja, Giya Gururaj, Harshith Bonam, Harshitha Komati, Ishika Buruju, Janya Harish, Keerthi Komati,Maanvi Manchineni, Madhangi, Manaswi Vemula, Manvitha Adala, Meghna Mukesh, Navya Bharagida, Navya Saranga, Neha Gudipati, Pranay Mukesh, Richa Kocherlakota, Rihsi Matla, Riya Matla, Saanvi Chelikani, Sanjana Adala, Shruthi Satish, Siddhartha Komati, Sriram Chakka, Sriya Gadde, Varun Gudipati, Yashaswi Vemula were performed in different programmes.
