Why poor collections for NTR despite good reviews?

NTR biopic first part who was released last week and got good reviews and appreciation. However the movie is getting very poor collections surprising trade pundits. There has been a debate among sleep circles about the reasons for such poor performance despite good reviews.

Some opine that, in recent times the caste factor and political factors are affecting movies as well. The same people point that, debacle of Telugu Desam Party in Telangana elections, Balakrishna’s funny speeches during the election that became fodder for trollers, anti-wave on TDP in Andhra – all these factors might be the reasons for such poor performance. Some people even opining that RGV’s negative propaganda on the movie and Nagababu comments on Balakrishna also might have affected the movie.

However, all these comments are far from reality Telugu audience many times proved that they watch film if it is good, irrespective of political happenings outside the movie. Some of the reasons for the poor performance of NTR movie from SCRIPT point of view might be these –

– Flat story:

The basic decision of the director to split the biopic into two parts may not be correct. Because the first part of NTR will be obviously dull as NTR life in first half doesn’t have much “conflicts” and as it is put by screenplay writers, ‘conflict’ is the heart of any story. As there is not much conflict in the story, audience felt that the movie is “flat”.

– Incomprehensive:

Director was just justifying his decision of splitting the biopic into two parts by saying some eulogizing comments on NTR that his life is vast and it cannot be condensed into a single part. Obviously, this is wrong and any great leader’s life would be vast with more dimensions. It is the duty of writers and director to make a biopic crisp and yet detailed enough to be called as comprehensive.

– Young NTR role:

Another reason is that, Balakrishna playing the young NTR did not go well with audience. Even though Balakrishna suited in the second half of the NTR, the directors decision of having Balakrishna play the young NTR proved costly. If the director had found a suitable actor to play the “young NTR”,  the results could have been definitely different.

Above  are the main reasons for audience feeling sort of flimsiness after watching the movie from the “script” point of view. We will have to wait and see how second part will fare
