A major scandal is engulfing Tamil Cinema right now and it is threatening the production of two films of the biggest South Indian Stars – Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth . The scandal is related to the production house Lyca Productions. This is a production house that is a part of the Lycamobiles group, that is currently under investigation by French authorities.
News reports coming out of the UK allege that Lyca is being pursued for money laundering charges and for misappropriation of funds. The firm is also being accused of funding the British Conservative Party with ill gotten gains.
Lyca Productions has initially released a press note stating that the allegations are false. But it has since remained silent. They are currently producing Rajinikanth and Shankar’s Robo 2.0 and Kamal Haasan’s Shabash Naidu. Both films have mammoth budgets and any adverse effect on their production will lead to a huge ripple effect across the industry.
