Employees not interested to move to Amaravati till next year

Even though Andhra Pradesh government is determined to shift the entire administration from Hyderabad to Velagapudi in Amaravati capital region, the employees, especially the women are not ready to go there, where no facility is available expect the office building.

Given strong opposition to the shifting, the government’s plan to relocated secretariat to Guntur district is now looks ulikely to take off. The leaders of employees associations, who enjoy privileged position vis a vis the government, have no objection to make a move. Ordinary employees, however, are finding it not feasible to relocated by June.

On its part the state government is working hard to place everything in place by June 27. In order to get the works continued undisturbed, the government is issued prohibitory orders at construction site. No outsider is being allowed near the site. This decision has been taken following strike by the employees after a migrant laborer died in accident at concrete mixing site.

Employees, who enthusiastic earlier , are now resisting after a team of them visited secretariat building site couple of days ago.

They are said to not satisfied with the way the government going ahead to complete the building without giving thought to provide proper infrastructure such as roads and accommodation.
Other deterrents are high rents in nearby Vijayawada and Guntur cities , children’s education and non-settlement of the ‘local status’ issue.

“Now, the employees want the deadline to be pushed to April 2017 , if not till the completion of the construction. This is has been conveyed to the leaders of associations. They will place the employees demands before the chief secretary SP Tucker and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu,” said a woman employee of from secretariat.
