Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has strongly opposed the growing narrative of a North versus South divide in Indian politics. He said such regional divisions could become dangerous for the country if they continue to grow. Speaking during a podcast interaction in New Delhi, Pawan Kalyan stressed that leaders holding constitutional positions should avoid making statements that create regional tensions.
He said India stands united today because hundreds of princely states were integrated with great effort after Independence. According to him, encouraging divisive politics in the name of regions would weaken the spirit of national unity. He added that governments should focus on solving public problems instead of creating emotional divisions among people.
Pawan Kalyan also spoke about the criticism he faced from some political leaders in Telangana. He revealed that certain leaders had questioned his presence in Hyderabad and suggested that he should not enter the state. Responding to such comments, he said India belongs to every citizen and nobody has the authority to decide where another Indian should live or travel.
The Jana Sena chief said he has been living in Hyderabad for decades and considers the city an important part of his life. He stated that every Indian has the right to campaign, work and reside anywhere in the country. Referring to his earlier use of the word “Jagir,” he clarified that he intended to reject the idea that any region belongs exclusively to a particular group or political class.
Speaking about Telangana politics, Pawan Kalyan revealed that leaders within Jana Sena have been urging him to contest elections in the state. He said he genuinely wants Telangana to develop and progress. At the same time, he maintained that no outsider can dictate his political movements or public activities.
Pawan Kalyan also revisited the Andhra Pradesh bifurcation issue. He said he was never against the formation of Telangana. However, he strongly opposed the manner in which the Congress party handled the bifurcation process. According to him, the division was carried out without proper planning and created unnecessary emotional and administrative complications.
In a personal reflection, the actor-turned-politician revealed that he once considered becoming a Naxalite during his younger days. He said his elder brother guided him towards a more constructive and democratic path. That transformation, he explained, shaped his political thinking and his approach toward public life.
The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted the changing mindset of India’s younger generation. He said today’s youth are moving away from destructive politics and emotional manipulation. Instead, they want leaders who speak with clarity, logic and sincerity. Young voters are looking for practical solutions and transparent governance rather than divisive rhetoric.
Pawan Kalyan further stated that it is natural for states to demand greater financial support from the Centre. He said the primary responsibility of every government should be to provide basic facilities and improve the quality of life for citizens.
Commenting on the influence of social media in modern politics, he remarked that even smaller political outfits are gaining visibility because of digital platforms. He suggested that social media has changed the way political narratives are built and how public support is mobilised across the country.
With his latest remarks, Pawan Kalyan has once again positioned himself as a leader who wants to combine regional aspirations with national unity.
