A Historic Day on the Beaches of Vizag
Visakhapatnam, June 21, 2025 , Andhra Pradesh created a proud moment for the entire country by setting a new Guinness World Record in yoga. Along the scenic coast of Visakhapatnam, over 3.01 lakh people came together and performed yoga in perfect unity, breaking the earlier record of 1.47 lakh set by Surat in 2018. The event was held from RK Beach to Bhogapuram and was attended by top leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
A Grand Yoga Performance
The 45-minute session was conducted under expert guidance and saw participants of all ages joining with great enthusiasm. The energy, discipline, and spirit of the crowd made the event truly world-class. The organizers also submitted 22 new Guinness World Record entries, showing the massive scale and perfect execution of the event.

As the first light of the day touched the Bay of Bengal, over three lakh people chanting “Om” together created a powerful and emotional scene. It was more than just a record – it was a celebration of Indian culture, health, and unity. Chief Minister Naidu beautifully said, “This is not just our record, it is India’s gift to the world.”

Prime Minister Modi appreciated the achievement and said it reflects India’s spiritual strength. Chief Minister Naidu shared that Andhra Pradesh has shown how modern planning can support traditional practices like yoga. He said this event is a proud tribute to India’s 5,000-year-old yoga legacy. Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan highlighted the importance of yoga in building a healthy and focused society. Minister Nara Lokesh thanked the people of Andhra Pradesh for making the event a huge success through their dedication and participation.
Planning That Made It Possible
Behind this grand event was careful planning and teamwork. Around 5,000 volunteers and 15,000 police and security staff worked tirelessly to make sure everything went smoothly. Advanced AI-powered systems helped in crowd control, and 1,200 water stations and 800 medical camps were set up for safety and comfort. Every participant received a free yoga mat, making them feel appreciated and welcomed.
Future Plans for Yoga in Andhra Pradesh
This record-breaking event is just the beginning of a larger yoga movement in the state. The government has announced that yoga will be made compulsory in all schools by 2026. Plans are in place to set up 1,000 certified yoga centres across Andhra Pradesh. The state will also promote Visakhapatnam as the “Yoga Tourism Capital” of India, and starting this year, the city will host an Annual International Yoga Festival.
