Brahmotsavam release date

As per the current reports coming in, Super Star Mahesh Babu’s family entertainer Brahmotsavam will be released on May 27th in India. Initially, this film was slated to release in April, but the date has been pushed back due to delays in shooting. Super Star is persisting on the unit to release the movie on May 27th at any cost. This gives two weeks on run in India before schools start. However, there is one more reason why he is very particular about this date. This weekend happens to be a Memorial Day long weekend in USA. The following Monday, May 30th is a holiday.

“From a movie trade perspective, Memorial day weekend is akin to Sankranti season in India. This is the best weekend to release a movie in US. This is the first long weekend of the year for most people and it is summer time. No excuses not to watch overseas King Mahesh babu’s movie. I won’t be surprised if Mahesh Babu breaches $700k if release is planned well unlike recent movies. If movie gets good talk, I won’t be surprised if the movie grosses 1.5-2M on opening weekend ” opines a very well respected overseas distributor.

As has been reported on T360, Brahmotsavam was bought at a very high premium by the overseas distributor. Classic entertainments acquired the movie for 13crores, which is the highest ever for a telugu movie. To breakeven,Brahmotsavam  needs to collect upwards of $3M. However, one thing for sure is after Brahmotsavam, three of top 5 premier movie collections in US would be Mahesh Babu’s, solidifying his numero uno position on US boxoffice.
