Chiru to become CWC member ?

Congress high-command is mulling over nominating Rajya Sabha member Chiranjeevi to Congress Working Committee (CWC).

As Chiranjeevi is busy with his movie project now, in order not to give the former Mega Star scope to become inactive in Congress or switch over to any other party after Movie business, AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi is said to be planning to take him into CWC as early as possible.

In Andhra Pradesh every party is now busy in wooing Kapu voters and Kapu leaders to their fold. The only party which is lagging in this activity is the Congress. Chief minister Naidu has set up a finance corporation for Kapus and now a committee has been set up to study the possibility of according BC status to Kapus. BJP is wooing the Kapus through Kanna Lakshminarayana , while the opposition YSRC leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy drove down to residence of former Congress union minister Dasari Narayana Rao to invite him into the party. There is some wild speculation among the media circles that BJP is trying to lure Chiranjeevi as well into BJP by offering him ‘brand ambassador’ for government of India. Against this background, emanated the talk of probable nomination of Chiranjeevi to CWC,from Gandhi Bhavan .

Congress leaders lend credence to the talk by stating that this might be the leak from AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh himself,who was in Hyderabad yesterday. The justification is that Dasari Narayana Rao, who was promoted by the party thinking as Kapu face, is leaving the party to join YSRC . So there is every need for the Congress party to keep Chiranjeevi in good humor and tie him down to the party. CWC membership gives Chiranjeevi access to the Congress high command. As of now there is no representation from Andhra in the present CWC. PCC president is only a permanent invitee. Party president Sonia Gandhi can nominate anybody to CWC to maintain balanced representation of all regions . Party sources expect an announcement from the AICC in a month or two.
