No Congress-TDP tie-up in AP: Telangana impact

0

The Congress and the TDP alliance ended in a disaster in the recent Telangana election. So both the parties have decided not to tie up in AP. Congress AP incharge Oommen Chandy and party state president N. Raghuveera Reddy clarified that their party will go it alone in the coming election in the state.

The Congress leaders are preparing now to field their party candidates in all the 175 assembly and 25 Lok Sabha segments. This is despite the fact the Congress is in every bad shape. The AP people are still angry over the unscientific and unjust separation of united AP from its capital city of Hyderabad. In 2014, Congress did not win a single MLA seat and it lost deposits in majority segments. The situation further deteriorated for the party now.

The Congress party’s position weakened following strong presence of regional parties like the TDP and the YSRCP while a new party Jana Sena emerged newly on the scene under Pawan Kalyan’s leadership. There are reports in some segments, the Congress will find it difficult to have a candidate field on its ticket. Analysts say Jaganmohan Reddy has nearly crushed Congress in AP by forming his own YCP named after YSR.
