“Telangana is now a crisis-state”

0

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir accused chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of showing utter disrespect to the democracy and ignoring conventions of the legislature. He wondered as to why the CM was hesitating to hold the promised all-party meeting Pranahita and other irrigation projects, which the CM was revamping unilaterally.

“You promised to hold all party meeting on Pranahita Chevella and other irrigation projects on the floor of Assembly and now you took a U-turn. This is nothing but utter disrespect for the Constitution and Assembly. Stop behaving in this immature manner. Your wrong approach has pushed the State into financial crisis and continuance of such behavior would only add to the losses,” he said. Under KCR leadership, Shabbir Ali said, the Telangana was falling into a ‘Crisis State’.

” The wrong policies of TRS Government have pushed Telangana into one crisis after the other. He turned Rs. 7500 crore revenue surplus Telangana, into a State with over Rs. 70,000 crore debt in just 16 months. As on today, the State’s exchequer has a balance of about Rs. 1800 crore while at least Rs. 3100 crore are needed to pay salaries and pensions. The TRS Government must issue a White Paper giving exact status of State’s finances,” demanded Shabbir Ali.

Shabbir Ali said that the education sector is in a state of neglect due to non-payment of fee reimbursement dues, lack of Vice-Chancellors in all 11 State universities and shortage of staff and other facilities in almost all institutions. The Congress leader also slammed the Chief Minister for taking immature decisions and reversing the same after a while. “KCR has become a U-turn Chief Minister. He took more than 15 U-turns in the last 15 months,” he said.

“KCR latest U-turn is on Metro Rail project route. He objected on the HMR route at Maozamjahi Market and Assembly building. Works were stopped for almost 16 months causing huge financial losses. Now he took a U-turn and said that the HMR authorities could go ahead with the original route plan. Who is responsible for the delay and huge financial losses?” he asked.

T-Cong stages walkout from Council on farmers’ suicides

0

Protesting the TRS government’s failure to give a concrete assurance to the farmers on one time settlement of loan waiver, Congress MLCs staged a walkout from Legislative council today. Opposition leader in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir led the walkout. The Congress MLCs said the State Government had failed to give a specific date or assurance on when the remaining dues of crop loan waiver scheme would be cleared. The government did not announce moratorium to provide relief to farmers from private financiers as demanded by the Congress members. Shabbir Ali announced that the Congress party was staging a walkout from the House against the government’s apathy towards farmers problems.

Expressed dissatisfaction over the government’s casual reply for the deabte, he said t the State Government had failed to provide either long term or short term measures to the agrarian crisis.
“Why did the government fail to react after learning about first spate of suicides,” Shabbir Ali asked. “Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and other ministers should have conducted Rythu Sadassus by involving all parties. They should have visited the affected families and conveyed a strong message to all farmers asking them not to resort to any extreme step. However, nothing was done,” said Shabbir Ali. The government did not even react to the Congress party’s demand for holding a special Assembly session. “This session has been convened after almost six months only to complete constitutional obligation and not to discuss the farmers’ suicides,” he said.

Urdu neglected in Hyderabad

0

Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has accused the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation of deliberately neglecting Urdu language in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

In a letter written to GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar on Saturday, Shabbir Ali said following representation from several Urdu speaking people and NGOs, he personally inspected the places where the GHMC is installing new sign boards for various localities. “I regret to say that the GHMC has completely neglected Urdu language in all the sign boards. The sign boards of various localities, directions and other information, are in English and Telugu languages only,” he said in his letter.

“Urdu is the second official language in nine out of 10 districts of Telangana. Urdu is the widely spoken language in the GHMC limits and Urdu speaking population comprise over 42% of total population in Hyderabad district alone. Therefore, it is mandatory for the GHMC and all institutions to have all their signboards in Telugu, Urdu and English language and they could not ignore Urdu language, for whatever be the reasons,” Shabbir Ali said.

Shabbir Ali warned that a massive dharna would be organised before the GHMC Headquarters at Tank Bund, if the corporation fails to rectify its mistake in one week by having all signboards in all three languages, including Urdu.

“TRS govt is sleeping like Kumbhakarna”

0

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir advised the TRS government to wake up from it Kumbhakarna slumber and see how farmers were dying in crisis. Accompanied by Congress cell Kisan Cell president M Kodanda Reddy, Shabbir came down heavily on the government stating that it had plenty of money to purchase vehicles for various departments and luxury buses to CM, but had no funds to provide relief to farmers who were dying in terrible distress.

“While the government gave preference to purchase of new vehicles worth over Rs. 500 Crore for various departments, including Rs. 28 crore to upgrade Chief Minsiter K Chandrashekar Rao’s convoy, it did not provide any relief to the farmers.,” they said.

He reminded how TRS government repeatedly denied the national Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) figure of 1127 suicides cases of farmers. Finally, after continuous denials, the Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy admitted that 409 suicides took place in Telangana and extended assistance to only 166 farmers, they said. Shabbir Ali compared the TRS Government to “Kumbhakarna” which woke up from its slumber of 15-months only after 1500 farmers committed suicide.

Citing his visit to the family of Limbaiah in Ramareddy village of Nizamabad he said he visited his family as he was a farmer and committed suicide. ” We did not give any importance to the fact that Lingaiah’s sister was a MPTC member of TRS,” he said.
