AP mulls Energy University at Penugonda

Andhra Pradesh government has decided to set up an Energy University at Penugonda in Anantapur district. The university will come up on 150 acres near the historic town, which was the last capital of Vijayanagara empire. The town is located on NH 44.

This was revealed by chief minister Chandrababu Naidu himself today while reviewing the developmental programs with officials. Similarly a Logistics University will come up on 90 acres near Kakinada. Today the CM reviewed the program under implementation by Infrastructure and IT departments.

The CM said the state government would appoint advisory boards for the two universities in a couple of weeks. The universities start functioning by offering diploma courses from 2017-18 and begin regular degree courses from 2019 -19. The advisory board of Logistics University will have the representatives or experts from Railways, ports, airports and inland water ways. He also said the state government would soon set up a separate agency for the development of state airports in Andhra Pradesh. The agency, Airports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, will be responsible for the development of state airports and running domestic air services. The state tourism department will partner with Airports Authority of Andhra Pradesh in order to promote the state tourism at national and global levels. The CM revealed that the flying school. coming up near Puttaparthy, Anantapur district, would offer participation for reputed national and international flying schools. Revealing the plans for the improvement of domestic air services, Naidu said more services would be introduced to connect the cities like Tirupati with major cities in India. He said government was mulling to set up a domestic airport near Srisailam, which is being development on the lines Tirupati with special townships and outer ring road.
