Bharatiya Janata Party is getting ready to organize its first public meeting at Rajahmundry next month. National president Amit Shah will address the meeting, which is first after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.

Even though PM Modi participated in a couple of  meetings in the state, it was mostly official and had nothing to do with the party in the state.

Now, the Saffron party is using the occasion of completion of the membership drive to organize the meeting as celebration of huge jump in the membership. The meeting is scheduled on March 6, 2016.

In all probability on that day, party national president Amit Shah is expected to announce the name of new president of state unit. If the signals coming out from the party sources are to be believed, Vizag MP and incumbent president K Haribabu is getting re-nominated as the president for the next three years. Haribabu’s term has ended following the completion of three year. According to the practice, after the completion of membership drive, new executive is installed. Party sources said the Amit Shah is visiting the state to address the meeting after the appointment of the new president.

BJP MP and party in charge of Andhra Pradesh Siddharth Nath Jain visited Rajahmundry Sunday to interact with the state leaders on the Amit Shah’s trip to Andhra Pradesh. According to Jain Andhra stood first in the enrolling the new members into the party. This is being seen as the achievement of Haribabu which worked well in favor of continuing his for the second term.

Another important factor that encouraged the national leadership to re-nominate the Visakhapatnam MP for the second term is his relationship with ruling party, especially chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. BJP wants friction-less association with TDP, so that it could demand more seats in next Assembly election as well as one or two Rajya Sabha nominations this year to leaders like M Venkaiah Naidu and Nirmala Sitaraman.

“BJP enjoys extremely cordial relationship with the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh,” Jain remarked in Rajahmundry.

“The people of the state repose great confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. This is amply demonstrated in their enthusiasm to join the BJP. This is exactly the reason for the party to decide on convening the public meeting and highlight the initiatives taken by the Narendra Modi government for welfare of different sections of the society,” Jain said, adding that party president Amit Shah would address the meeting.
