It is election season and there is a list of gifts. AP CM Chandrababu Naidu announced smart phones and Rs. 10,000 cash prize for DWCRA women across the state. The money will be distributed to them in the next two months. The impact on DWCRA women groups is considered vital for improving chances of the TDP among the poor families. Naidu has supported and strengthened women’s self help groups from the beginning.
The TDP government has also waived DWCRA women’s loans as per its promise. Naidu says lot of financial support is extended to women groups despite the financial constraints faced by AP. In Telangana, it is a different scenario there as the government is least bothered this though it has good resources.
Naidu says the smart phones would be given to over 1.4 lakh DWCRA women and they can get many things done sitting at home with these phones. The Rs. 10,000 cash prize will go to 94 lakh women. All this is aimed at empowerment of women and their financial independence. DWCRA women’s groups are considered brainchild of Naidu as he played instrumental role in giving a solid direction to these units.
