Exclusive: Reason behind PVP – Vamshi Paidipalli tussle

Since yesterday, film industry is abuzz with the news that popular production company PVP Cinema has lodged a complaint on director Vamshi Paidipalli because they were sidelined from Mahesh Babu’s next project. Telugu360 has an exclusive scoop on what really happened between the director and the producer.

It is already known that Vamshi Paidipalli was supposed to team up with PVP Cinema to direct Mahesh Babu’s next project. PVP has officially announced this project on the Mahesh Babu’s birthday and confirmed that the film will go on floors in 2017. But, suddenly producers Dil Raju and Aswini Dutt came on board to bankroll this project. So here is what really happened.

Post the disastrous result of Brahmotsavam, Mahesh returned 2 Crores as compensation for distributors and committed to work with PVP in Vamshi’s direction to further compensate distributors of Brahmotsavam. The idea is to sell the movie to the same distributors. PVP wanted to complete the film with a relatively less budget of 50-55 Crores. But, Vamshi stated that he needs a budget of around 75 Crores as the film is set in the backdrop of US. PVP was skeptical that he might have to spend 85-90 Crores and again sell the movie to distributors for exorbitant amounts, increasing the risk again. So Vamshi changed the producers after speaking with Mahesh Babu.

Close sources revealed that PVP, who runs all his business operations in a corporate style, has all proofs on paper that Vamshi has committed to work for their banner and hence they lodged a complaint on him. Sources we have talked to also opine that there is less fault on PVP’s side and he  has been very prompt in paying losses to the distributors. “Most producers just dilly dally and finally ask them to buy their next movie, double dipping us. But I was surprised when PVP promptly send me a check, which was completely unexpected. A pleasant surprise” said a distributor.

It remains to be seen on how Vamshi and Mahesh Babu will respond on this issue. Latest we are hearing is Mahesh Babu might just back out of the project. Stay tuned for more information on this.
