Bollywood Khan trio Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan are undoubtedly the undisputed stars of Indian cinema. They have majorly dominated the box office for the last two and a half decades. South India superstars Rajinikanth and Vijay managed to compete with Khans in terms of craze and biggest openings but couldn’t emulate their box office records. Now, Tollywood actor Prabhas is likely to challenge Khans with his upcoming film Saaho which is set for a grand release on August 15th.
After raising the profile of Indian cinema with Baahubali franchise, Prabhas has emerged as a pan India star and his popularity grew by leaps and bounds among the audience of all languages. The soaring box office success of Baahubali has made Prabhas a bankable star for trade circles who are betting big on his forthcoming films. Saaho has been the cynosure of everyone ever since its launch. The recently released swashbuckling first teaser of Saaho has stormed social media with record-breaking views in all languages which is a clear demonstration of how audience all over the country are owning Prabhas after Baahubali and why he is set to emerge as the biggest superstar of the generation.
In terms of pre-release business, Saaho has been setting several benchmarks in all languages. The film is expected to take a massive opening in all territories on independence day. Trade circles are expecting a share of around 90-100 Crores on its opening day including all languages. It is a known fact that SS Rajamouli has walked away with most of the credit for the wide box office success of Baahubali. For Saaho, which is directed by Sujeeth who has just got one film experience, it is purely going to be Prabhas’ charisma and star power that will result in the massive openings.
So, if Saaho rewrites all existing box office records, there is no doubt that Prabhas can be considered as a bigger hero than Bollywood Khans. Let’s wait and see.
