Continuing his focus on empowering marginalized sections of society, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to formulate a special comprehensive plan for the development of the Most Backward Classes (MBCs) in the state, firs of its kind effort in these parts. He also has decided to set up a separate Most Backward Classes Development Corporation (MBCDC) in addition to the Backward Classes Corporation.

He has indicated that necessary funds for MBCs will be allocated in the forthcoming annual budget. He has taken these decisions after conducting a detailed consultation on the condition of MBCs in the state. He deplored that most of government programmes are not reaching MBCs. So, he stressed the need to bring them into the social mainstream, while continuing with welfare schemes for the BCs.

He also directed that officials need not formulate schemes for allocation of these funds, but a decision in this regard should be taken only after holding a meeting with representatives of the MBCs. He assured that there would be no political interference in the affairs of the corporation.

It was decided that the government will extend financial help to those who are still in their profession, besides imparting skill development, taking measures to modernize their trade and providing them with marketing facilities. There are some castes which have no hereditary profession, and for such people we will provide employment based on local needs.

The Chief Minister sought to remove the misconception among the MBCs that governments do not work for them. He instructed the officials concerned to enroll in large numbers MBC children into Government Residential Schools.
