    Official runtime of ‘Rangasthalam’ revealed

Indian films usually had lengthy run times but things changed completely over the past couple of years. Most of the films fall in the cap of 2 hours and 2 hours:15 minutes. Tollywood audience rarely witnessed films with three hours run time in the recent times and it was Arjun Reddy which lasted for three hours. The audience were not bothered about the run time after the cult classic had enough content to impress the audience. Now one such attempt is made by the makers of Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam.

The film has been given U/A certificate yesterday after wrapping up the censor formalities. The film’s run time has been locked to be 2 hours and 59 minutes which is huge. Rangasthalam is the second film with three hours run time after Arjun Reddy. Sukumar and his team have been extremely confident on the stuff and decided to leave the film untouched. The pre-bookings have been exceptional and Rangasthalam has been carrying huge expectations. Samantha is the female lead and the film will release on March 30th all over.

Upasana unaware of Charan’s secret account

    0

Ram Charan is celebrating his birthday today and he is busy promoting his next film Rangasthalam which is hitting the screens this Friday. On the eve of his birthday, here are the excerpts of his interview about Rangasthalam and his personal life:

Rangasthalam is the story that took place during 80s when I was born. We went back as the people were innocent during those days and technology had no space for people and they relied completely on relations.

I was left in shock when I heard that the role of Chitti Babu was deaf. However the character has been penned strong enough that the film was never a letdown when it came to heroism.

I asked my tailor to stitch two pairs of costumes from Rangasthalam for Allu Ayaan after he turned a huge fan of the film’s songs.

I am a huge fan of traditional wear and I regularly wear white lungis at home during evenings. Even when Sukumar came to narrate the story of Rangasthalam, I was in a lungi.

Chitti Babu is one of the most challenging roles I have done.

My next film with SS Rajamouli will roll next year and Rajamouli is currently busy penning the final draft. I am yet to hear the script and it is the belief on Rajamouli that made me sign the film.

My most favourite song from Rangasthalam is yet to be released and the song will be the major highlight of Rangasthalam.

After Rangasthalam, Papikondalu turned out the best holiday spot for me and Upasana. We are in love with the natural locales.

I have a secret social media account with a unique name. I follow and get updated what’s happening through that account. Even Upasana is unaware of the account.

Rangasthalam : Lengthy runtime, Chiranjeevi says no trimming

Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam has completed its Censor formalities and set for a grand release on March 30.

The film’s runtime is said to be around 170 Minutes which is quite lengthy in the current trend. However, when the team thought of trimming the runtime by 15-20 minutes, Chiranjeevi advised against their idea.

Sources say that Chiru watched Rangasthalam and felt that it needs such a lengthy duration to carry all the emotions perfectly. When Sukumar and team revealed that they are planning to to chop down few scenes to reduce the runtime, reluctant Chiru asked them to leave it untouched as it has shaped up quite well.

So, it is going to be a lengthy watch for audience this Friday. What remains to be seen is whether Sukumar manages to keep audience invested to his narration despite having a runtime of 170 minutes.

Rangasthalam received U/A certificate from censor board.

    Chiru revealed Rangasthalam “twist” unintentionally

    0

Mega star Chiranjeevi graced the Rangasthalam pre-release function. He spoke high about the movie and performance of Ram charan in the movie. But while speaking in the flow, he revealed a crucial twist in the movie, probably unintentionally.

In the trailer that was relased yesterday, village politics is showcased and Jagapathi is seen as village president. Ram charan character “Chitti Babu” and his brother role (Played by Adi pinisetty) also revealed already. However, while praising Charan’s performance, chiranjeevi told, “When Adi pinisetty character dies in climax and in the subsequent scenes, Charan’s performance is commendable”.

When Chiranjeevi revealed the twist, Sukumar and Adi seem to have got shocked. However, Chiranjeevi also realized that he has revealed part of the story but he could not do anything about that and continued his speech. Probably, Sukumar and his unit might have disappointed for revealing the twist that comes in the climax. Anyway if the emotions are captured well, knowing the twist may not do much damage to the movie but this twist shouldn’t have been revealed in the first place.

    Rangasthalam trailer

After generating solid buzz with impressive posters and teasers, the makers of Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam unveiled the theatrical trailer today during the pre release event in Vizag.

The two minute trailer, which offers an wholesome treat, is finely cut and gives an impression that Sukumar and Charan have a winner on their hands. Sukumar clearly positions Rangasthalam as a pure commercial drama based on village politics.

The trailer opens on an intriguing note and introduces the chemistry between Chitti Babu and Rama Lakshmi. Jagapathi Babu as the village headman is the prime antagonist and he looks menacing. Prakash Raj also seems to have got an interesting role.

Clearly, the drama is between the brotherhood and the enviable village head. Ram Charan carries the emotions effortlessly.

The artwork is sublime and will be the mainstay for the film as the story is set in the 1980s. Devi Sri Prasad’s music has a rustic touch and fits the genre perfectly.

All in all, Sukumar has hit the bulls eye with this trailer which matches the high expectations that have been surrounding the film.

Real reason why Sukumar preferred to direct Rangasthalam 1985

    4

Sukumar is undoubtedly one of the top directors of Telugu cinema. His logical thinking and unique narration surprised the Telugu audience and he is currently focused on Rangasthalam 1985 which is completely set in the village backdrop. Sukumar who has been busy action thrillers and romantic entertainers for the first time opted out for a village based romantic drama with Rangasthalam 1985. During his press meet, the ace director revealed the real reason which inspired him to make Rangasthalam 1985.

“Even though I spent 28 years in my village, I started visiting foreign countries after coming into films. My last two films 1-Nenokkadine and Nannaku Prematho have been mostly abroad. One of my fans during my foreign shoot asked me why I could not make a film on Telugu nativity and culture based on a village backdrop. I was left ashamed and it was how Rangasthalam 1985 happened. The film will narrate about the various kinds of people in villages. I felt Rangasthalam will be the apt title and it discusses about emotions, love and revenge. Rangasthalam 1985 is in final stages of post-production and it will hit the screens on March 30th” revealed Sukumar.

Sukumar clarifies about Rangasthalam song Controversy

    0

Rangasthalam 1985 is one film that has been carrying huge buzz all over. The songs have been smashing hits and are topping the music charts. The second song Rangamma Mangamma penned by Chandrabose landed into a controversy after the line “Golla Bhama vacchi naa goru gilluthunte” did not go well with a section of people. Ramulu Yadav, the President of Yadav Hakkula Porata Samithi wanted the line to be removed else he threatened to stage a massive protest after he felt that the line insults the women of the Yadav community.

Sukumar during his recent press meet clarified saying that Golla Bhama doesn’t mean Yadav woman in this context and they wanted to remind the audience about the insect named Golla Bhama in the romantic number. Sukumar even said that he had no intention to hurt anyone with his films. With Sukumar’s clarification, the controversy has been kept an end. Ram Charan and Samantha played the lead roles in Rangasthalam 1985 which has been slated for March 30th release all over.

    Trip to Nostalgia- Rangasthalam Audio

    0

    Rangasthalam Audio Review

Rangasthalam is an upcoming rural period drama starring Ram Charan and Samantha in lead roles. The film is directed by logical filmmaker Sukumar and music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad. For its promising content and look, the film has already been making much buzz around.

The album begins with the already popular Entha Sakkagunnave sung by DSP himself – this time with laid back vocals. The usually energetic singer tones down his high voltage vocals to suit the folk and relaxing nature of villages and it is done quite well. Poetic lyrics by Chandrabose is a huge plus for this number. DSP uses simplistic arrangements to suit the folk aura of the overall movie and does it in style!

Ranga Ranga Rangasthalana is a fun filled number sung by Rahul Sipligunj and Chandrabose’s lyrics speaking about drama of life is quite enjoyable to hear. DSP makes sure the typical energy is back but at the same time it retains the 80s nostalgia quite brilliantly. The interludes are quite feisty and entertaining as well.

It is time for the peppy number Rangamma Mangamma sung by M.M.Mansi which has already become talk of the town for its unique feel. The song brings back the age old village look in terms of music and folk brilliance. Usage of harmonica and foot tapping rhythm and Mansi’s funky vocals are a biggest highlight of the song. The way a female singer taking a lead with such is amazing to hear!

The album dwells more into folk magic with Aa Gattununtava which is a typical field song which is aimed at energizing the local folks. Shiva Nagulu does a fantastic job with his rustic vocals and excellent style of singing. The usage of clarinet in the interludes gives an old school feel to the song.

The grand finale happens in trademark Sukumar style with an item number Jigelu Raani sung by Rela Kumar and Venkata Lakshmi. Usage of dholak, and harmonium brings a local feeling and Chandrabose’s lyrics are quite funky and conversational. The sultry look of the overall song is quite impressive and interestingly composed in raga Harikamboji!

    Verdict:

Rangasthalam is an enjoyable album and definitely Sukumar –DSP combination will never disappoint!

    Our Picks:

    Rangamma Mangamma, Entha Sakkagunnave

    ‘Rangasthalam’ song sparks controversy

    0

Ram Charan’s upcoming film Rangasthalam is releasing on March 30. While the team is buoyed with the superb response for the songs and the teasers, the lyrics of the recently released chartbuster song Rangamma Mangamma have not gone too well with the ‘Yadav’ community.

Ramulu Yadav, All India president of Yadav community, demanded the removal of a particular lyric in Rangamma Mangamma song. He objected to ‘Gollabhama Vachi Gorugillutunte’ lines from the song as they are intended to belittle the sentiments of women in their community.

He threatened to protest against the film after its release if the offensive lyrics are not expunged immediately.

The makers of Rangasthalam are yet to respond on the issue. The film is slated for Summer release.

This is not the first time, the lyrics of a Telugu song have invited criticism from a community. Last year, Allu Arjun’s Duvvada Jagannadham got involved in a similar controversy.
