The film has beaten Third Day revenue of Baahubali which has collected a distributor share of 9.88 Cr but fell behind Baahubali2. Top comedian’s track chopped off from Rangasthalam

Excessive runtime of Rangasthalam turned out to be a worrying factor for the makers as well as Mega fans after the final run time has been locked. Megastar Chiranjeevi watched the film in a special screening and asked Sukumar along with his team not to remove a single scene from the film. However the inside news is that Sukumar managed to shoot the film for over three hours and chopped off several episodes even before screening the film for Megastar Chiranjeevi.

Top comedian Prudhvi played a small role in the film which comes during the second half of the film. It has been revealed that Sukumar penned a separate comedy track for Prudhvi which has been filled with lot of humor. Though the episodes came out really well, Sukumar had to remove them to cut short the run time. The film released last Friday and turned out to be a blockbuster. Despite of this, Prudhvi’s episodes will not be added in the coming weeks as Rangasthalam’s run time is already 179 minutes. One will have to wait for one more month for the film to be released on Amazon Prime to enjoy the comic episodes of Prudhvi in Rangasthalam.

After weeks of dull phase due to lack of notable hits, Ram Charan’s latest release, Rangasthalam has brought huge cheer for trade circles in overseas.

The rustic entertainer, directed by Sukumar, has been creating a havoc at the US box office with its sensational run in its first weekend. After embarking on a record breaking start with $ 706K from its Thursday premiers, there is no stopping Rangasthalam as it went on to pile up rich harvest by the end of its first Sunday.

With Friday’s solid $ 586K haul and Saturday’s mindboggling $ 645K figures, Rangasthalam has emerged as the fastest non-Baahubali film to clock $ 2 Million Dollars in overseas.

Ram Charan’s latest offering Rangasthalam, which released last Friday, is unstoppable at box office. The rustic entertainer opened on a solid note with superb first day revenues in all major areas. Continuing its impressive run, the film minted strong revenues on Saturday and trade circles are expecting a big Sunday due to glowing word of mouth and positive reviews.

Going by its current trend, Rangasthalam is likely to emerge as one of the highest grossers in the history of Tollywood in its full run.

By the end of its first week, the Sukumar directional is likely to occupy the fourth place in the list of highest first week shares in Tollywood. Megastar Chiranjeevi, father of Ram Charan, holds the non-Baahubali record with the highest first week share for Khaidi No 150 which collected 76.87 Crores.

Telugu superstar Ram Charan Teja says he is more anxious about Sukumar’s “Rangasthalam” than any of his films so far.

Ram Charan admits “Rangasthalam” is a new beginning for him.

“After ten years of acting, I needed a complete change. I have to constantly challenge myself as an actor. And what bigger challenge than this film where I play a real-life character who is also deaf.

“It is a completely different zone of performance for me. Hopefully my audience is going to be as excited by my makeover as I am,” he said.

The actor, who made his acting debut in 2007, says “Rangasthalam” was a first for him on many levels.

“I have never played a rural character before. In fact I had never stayed in a village before, though I have visited my native village with my father (Chiranjeevi) a few times. But this was my first exposure to rural life.

“We actually went and stayed in the remotest town on the map of Andhra Pradesh where there was no network for mobile services, no luxury hotels. Nothing to remind me of my metropolitan existence. We had to rough it out. The entire process of acclimatisation changed my attitude to the process of acting.”

Ram Charan also spent considerable time understanding his character’s physical disability.

“I spent five months understanding the character’s body language and his hearing disability. Since I had never played a rustic character before I wanted to ensure I got it right. I didn’t want my portrayal to look superficial,” he said.

The actor is full of praise for the team of “Rangasthalam”.

“I have to admit that the script itself was so coherent and comprehensive. It made my job easier. I also had a fabulous co-star in Samantha Akkineni. Without her, my performance would not have been possible. She is truly one of the best co-stars I have worked with.”

Ram Charan hopes the audience gives his film “the same love and appreciation that they have always given to my films”.

“Am I anxious for the change of image? Not anxious. Because change is imperative for an actor. With ‘Rangasthalam’, I have entered a more realistic phase of acting. I hope to do more such roles in future.”

The actor says his father has seen some rushes of the film.

“He felt I had nailed it. To me that was the most satisfying moment since I took up this challenge. Now, I look forward to the audiences’ response. Hopefully my journey into a new phase would be as smooth as it has been for the first ten years.”

Talking about his last film, he said: “Even in my last film ‘Dhruva’ where I played a police officer I had to beef up for the part. I built the body that the film required. Unfortunately ‘Dhruva’ came at the time when the country was hit by demonetization. My audience was just not in the mood to spend on movie tickets.

“So ‘Dhruva’ suffered, yes. But never mind. I am as proud of that film as I am of everything I’ve done so far.”
