TAGC Throw ball & Volleyball tournament – 2017

Chicago: Telugu Association of Greater Chicago (TAGC – First Telugu Association) organized Volleyball and throw ball tournament on October 8th, 2017 at Pelican Harbor Indoor Aquatic Park, 200 S Lindsey Ln, Bolingbrook, IL 60440 This sports event was sponsored by Indsoft Inc. & Hyderabad House, Schaumburg location. TAGC President proposed and the Board approved unanimously that tournament to be called as TAGC and Bobbili Madhava Reddy Memorial Volleyball and Throw ball tournament. Late Sri Madhava Reddy garu was past president and founding member of TAGC. The main objective of conducting this event is to motivate and encourage TAGC members and Telugu community to stay fit and to offer refreshment from routine lives as well as making new friends.

TAGC Board and sports team’s dedication and hard work made this event a Grand Success with record number of teams registered in TAGC history. The event was publicized well by utilizing all means of social media and communication. TAGC has conducted volleyball tournament for men in 3 categories and Throw ball for Women. Volleyball categories are Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. We had about 24 Volleyball teams, 4 groups, 4 courts, 9 hours, 90 plus games and 280 participants with 200 guests. Each team played minimum 3 games in group level that includes quarter finals, semifinals and finals. Thanks for being with us through the end with all your sportive nature and smiles. It was like a festival of Volleyball with Spikes all over. The games were very tight and were feast to everybody who was watching the games.

Kudos to our volunteers who took care of monitoring the games, tracking the wins and losses, updating scores, making sure teams and referees for the next matches are available on time and what not !! This event was planned together and executed flawless with help of our BODs Praveen Vemulapalli, Saptagiri Sangem, Avinash Lattupalli, Vijay Bheeram, Anji kandimalla, Ramu Billakanti, Mamatha Lankala, Past president Pradeep Kandimalla, President elect Jyothi Chinatalapani and volunteers Sashi, Ramana Kalva, Rohit Akula, Santhosh Konduri and others volunteers

2017 – TAGC Super 8 Cricket Tournament

Chicago July16,2017: Telugu Association of Greater Chicago (TAGC) organized Super 8 Cricket Tournament on July 15 & 16, 2017 at South Barrington cricket grounds, Barrington, IL. This sports event was sponsored by Verinon Inc. The main objective of conducting this event is to motivate and encourage TAGC members to stay fit and to offer refreshment from routine lives.

TAGC Board and sports team’s dedication and hard work made this event a Grand Success. Event was publicized well by utilizing all means of social media and communication. TAGC received enormous response from cricket lovers and had to close the registrations early.

Total 14 registered teams were approved by TAGC to participate in the tournament. These teams were divided into 4 groups and each group played the matches on a league basis so that each team got an opportunity to play 2 games. Each team consisted of a minimum of 8 players and went up to 12 players. Topper of each group entered into semifinals and semifinal round winners played the finals on Sunday. The total number of matches was 17 (4+4+3+3+2+1) played over 2 days. Each team get to play 8 overs to bat and each bowler got 2 overs. Sixes counted as 8 runs and each wide got 2 runs and an extra ball.

First game between Hyderabad Nawaabs Vs. Hit & run started at 8 AM. TAGC sports committee chair Sapthagiri Sangem took both captains to ground for toss, Hit & Run won toss and was elected to Bowl. All teams reported on time where all players of different age groups played very sportively, professionally, and with great commitment. Raging Tigers won first Semifinal against Strikers and Juggernauts worn second semifinals in super over against Schaumburg Sultans and Finally Juggernauts won the finals against raging tiger a ball left for the innings, all matches were exhilarating matches no one was able to predict who is going to win until the last ball of the match.

TAGC President Ramachandra R. Ade along with entire sports committee team and sponsor Mr. Raj Ginne presented the trophies to Juggernauts (Winners), Raging Tigers (Runners) , TAGC announced Shekar as most valuable player MVP/ Man of the Series, Naveen Ganne as best Batsman and Bhagat R Goli as the best Bowler

2017 TAGC Ugadi ,Sri Rama Navami Celebrations & Musical Night

Naperville IL April 22, 2017: TAGC-Telugu Association of Greater Chicago (i.e. the first Telugu association in North America) has celebrated Ugadhi and Sri Rama Navami at the Naperville Community Church known as Yellow Box, Naperville, IL 60540. The event was a grand success with an overwhelming response from the Telugu community with over 1,350 guests (Both events)- as per membership committee chair Mamatha Lenkala. TAGC conducted Ugadhi & Sri Rama Navami event Cultural programs with local talent followed by ‘Musical night’ program by singers from India.

The Auditorium was well decorated with welcome banners while the stage was decorated with the TAGC logo, thanks to the decoration committee chair Swetha Janamanchi and her team. TAGC membership committee welcomed guests with a smile.

TAGC President Mr. Ramachandra Reddy Ade started the program with Lord Ganesha prayer, along with the cultural team and Board of Directors. In the Ugadhi & Sri Rama Navami cultural event, around 300 participants performed a variety of entertainment programs and shows, which attracted the audience with great attention. The program highlights include Sri Rama Navami theme songs, Maya Bazaar theme songs, Fusion on Lord Shiva, Ugadhi theme skit and Retro couple theme (hits of Tollywood stars from 1970 to 2015), and etc. TAGC President thanked & congratulated Cultural Committee Chair Sujatha Katta, team, and volunteers who worked tirelessly for more than a month to make the event a flawless execution and a memorable event for the Telugu Community in the Chicago land and mid-west areas.

TAGC President and team welcomed the chief guest Sri O.P. Meena. He expressed & invited TAGC members and families to the upcoming Yoga day. TAGC President Ramachandra Ade , Past President Pradeep Kandimalla, Youth committee chair (2016) Venkat Gunuganti and Sri O.P. Meena honored youth members with PVSA certificates for those who volunteered and qualified for year-2016.

TAGC-DF team conducted a special raffle for a great cause during the event and collected funds which will be donated to Aakshya Vidya charitable trust whose mission it is to educate poor people in slums.

President requested guests to honor a moment of silence in loving memory of TAGC founding members Sri. Madhava R Bobbili and Sri. Baburao Javvaji.

“Music does bring people together”- with this motto, TAGC brought singers Anjana Sowmya, Damini Bhatla, Narendra Doddapaneni, Yazin Nizar from India who performed a live concert. The musical night rocked and energized guests in the auditorium with continuous nonstop entertainment for over 3 hours.

Food committee Chair Uma Avadutha with team & volunteers did a wonderful job in serving dinner for such a mass crowd in the allocated time. Tasty dinner was served with a variety of food items co-sponsored by Hyderabad House restaurant Management from the Schaumburg & Naperville locations. Ugadhi pachadi was offered during the dinner.

TAGC President Mr. Ramachandra R Ade thanked the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and volunteers who have worked for weeks in planning and preparations to make this event memorable. He also thanked all the participants, their parents, teachers, and the guests for their enthusiastic show of support throughout the evening. He also conveyed his gratitude and thanks to sponsors for giving back to the community and requested TAGC members to make use of services provided by sponsors.
