Sack Telangana health minister for surgery deaths, demands Congress

1

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has demanded the dismissal of Health Minister T. Harish Rao from the state Cabinet over the death of four women at a family planning surgery camp in Ranga Reddy district.

TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy termed the deaths as ‘murder’ by the government and wondered how 34 women belonging to poor families were operated upon at the camp.

Reddy, who is also a Member of Parliament, on Wednesday called on some women who are undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad for complications following surgery.

After the death of four women who underwent Double Puncture Laparoscopy (DPL) at a family planning surgery camp in Ranga Reddy district, authorities shifted the remaining 30 women to different hospitals for treatment.

Thirteen women were admitted to Apollo Hospital and the remaining 17 were shifted to government-run Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad.

The four women died due to complications after undergoing DPL at the female sterilisation camp conducted on August 25 at Civil Hospital at Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district.

They complained of acute gastroenteritis and died while undergoing treatment. Two deaths each were reported on Monday and Tuesday.

Revanth Reddy said that Harish Rao was entrusted with the health portfolio because of his ‘efficiency’, but such an incident took place when he is heading the health department.

The Congress leader described the suspension of officials as an eyewash and demanded that criminal cases be booked against them.

Reddy said the Congress will take up an intensive campaign on behalf of the victims and will lodge a complaint with the National Commission for Women.

He ridiculed the claims by the ruling TRS that government hospitals in the state are providing services at par with the corporate hospitals.

“If this is true, why have these women been admitted to corporate hospitals for treatment,” he asked.

Kishan Reddy slams TRS govt for neglecting Musi works

0

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday slammed the Telangana government for neglecting Musi riverfront development saying this resulted in the flooding of areas along the course of the river.

Reddy visited some areas in Amberpet which are inundated due to recent heavy rains and floods in Musi river and Moosarambagh bridge which was submerged.

Reddy, who is an MP from Secunderabad, alleged that the negligence of the state government in developing the riverfront and checking encroachments resulted in hardships to people in the areas along the river.

He alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government failed to learn any lessons from the past. The Minister told reporters that like last year, the city received heavy rains this year too but the state government was caught napping.

The BJP leader said the state government only made announcements like setting up of a corporation for Musi riverfront development.

He recalled that the government appointed chairman and members to Musi Riverfront Development Corporation. “Only announcements were made. Nothing happened on the ground.”

Kishan Reddy said nothing was for the development of Musi river and this led to the areas on the banks of the river getting flooded again due to heavy rains.

The Union Minister also inspected Moosarambagh bridge across Musi which was completely submerged due to discharge of flood water from Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs upstream.

He alleged that the TRS government failed to come to the rescue of people affected by floods and also criticized Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for visiting Delhi when people in Hyderabad were suffering due to the heavy rain and floods.

“What is he doing in Delhi? Nobody knows. Is he doing something there for people’s welfare, for his party or he went there for some conspiracy against the Narendra Modi government?” he asked.

He alleged that even in the past when people in Hyderabad were suffering due to floods, the Chief Minister did not step out of his official residence Pragati Bhavan.

Kishan Reddy claimed that the state government did not spend funds under the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF).

He advised the TRS not to make politically motivated statements and come to the rescue of people.

Will Revanth Reddy be arrested like Narayan Rane?

0

Looks like, the TRS government in Telangana is preparing the ground to arrest TPCC chief A.Revanth Reddy like Maharashtra government arrested union minister Narayan Rane recently.

Rane was arrested recently for making derogatory remarks on Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Addressing a public meeting as part of Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Maharashtra, BJP’s union minister Rane said he felt like slapping on Uddhav’s face for CM’s ignorance on India celebrating 75 years of Independence and asking officials standing besides him about this while delivering Independence Day speech on August 15.

The Maharashtra police booked case for these comments and arrested Rane though he secured bail later

Now TRS government feels that Revanth Reddy is abusing CM KCR and his family members every day using filthy and unparlimentary language in his press conferences and public meetings.

TRS MLA A.Jeevan Reddy on Thursday (today) wrote to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asking what action Telangana government should take against Revanth Reddy for abusing KCR every day when Maharashtra government in which Congress is partner arrested BJP’s union minister Rane just for abusing CM only once.

He requested Rahul to control Revanth and if not Telangana government will be forced to initiate action against him.

TRS govt shock to employees: Old salaries even after PRC!

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had announced new PRC for state government employees in the Legislative Assembly during the recent budget session with effect from April 2021.

KCR announced 30% fitment (hike on basic pay) while the PRC had recommended just 7% fitment. All employees unions conducted ‘paalaabhishekams’ to KCR photos across the state.

Employees were expecting to get their first hiked salary for April on May 1.

But the finance department on Tuesday (today) issued orders implementing old salary even for April saying that the modalities for implementing new PRC are yet to be finalised and it will take some time to complete this process.

This has left employees shocked as they now have to wait till June 1 to receive their first hiked salary.

Though the finance department cited delay in finalisation of modalities for new PRC, it is being rumoured that it was due to lack of funds the government delayed new PRC.

The salary bill of TS government has already reached Rs 30,000 crore per year and new PRC will burden by another Rs 10,000 crore per year.

Every month, the burden will increase by Rs 750 crore.

The government is already facing financial crisis due to corona.

KTR blame game – accuses previous regimes for water problem

0

Even after two and half years of his government, completing more than half of the term, following many other ruling parties of the country, Telangana Municipal Administration Minister K Tarakarama Rao blames the previous regimes for the prevailing drinking water problem in the `global city’ Hyderabad, especially in the Old City.

Replying to a question in the State Legislative Assembly during Question Hour today, he said however, the State Government was taking corrective steps to improve the water supply position. He admitted that drinking water was one among three major issues for his party’s grand success in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls by winning 100 of 150 seats. Other major issues are power and law and order.

He assured that the drinking water needs of the city would be met on priority basis. He said he was ready to convene the meeting of city legislators on the issue and the government was also ready to take up short discussion.

Refuting MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi’s accusation that the Old City is being neglected, the minister said that as against the revenue of Rs. 93 crore, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB)spends Rs. 115 crore in the Old City. However, he admitted that the government was unable to assess the details of water needs in the Old City. He also listed out various works which were sanctioned for the Old City.

He further said that while previous Congress Government had spent only Rs. 377 crore on HMWSSB from 2009 to 2014, during the last two years, TRS Government had spent Rs. 261 crore and sanctioned 7,624 works worth Rs. 448 crore.

Congress demands financial emergency in TS

0

Telangana Congress on Thursday demanded declaration of financial emergency in the state and sought immediate release of a white paper on state finances. Following chief minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao clarification that the state had no money for the one-time waiver of the farmers’ loans, Congress chief spokesperson Dr Shravan Dasoju said the state was on the verge of bankruptcy because of severe financial indiscipline in the TRS government.

In a press release, Dr Dasoju said the separate Telangana state had fallen victim of TRS government’s efforts to create an illusion in the eyes of public and investors that Telangana was surplus state and rich state. ” The government has inflated all budgetary figures to show that the small state of Telangana has larger than life size budget because of so called efficiency of TRS. The CM had misled the Assembly and the people. The Chief minister silently attempted to cover up this illusion by levying all taxes and resorting revenue generation methods, including introduction of cheap liquor. But, vigilant Telangana people have successfully thwarted these attempts. Now when Congress demanded one-time settlement of loans, the chief minister on one side and his son KTR on the other demand equal treatment for Telangana on a par with Bihar and special packages,” Dr Dasoju said asking why did the government send reports to the centre mentioning Telangana as a surplus state.

According to Dr Dasoju, the mask of the TRS government was torn apart. “To prevent the unrest errupt from the people, in the past 15 months chief ministers used every trick in the book. The CM wanted to divert the people‘s attention from the reality to the so called Telangana glory to survive. The government had spent Rs 600 crore on the Godavari Pushkaralu to create a wave of hype so that people could be bogged down by the glory . Later, the government allotted about Rs 182 crore on Sammakka Sarakka festival to invoke glory mantra again. Now KCR government is planning to spend huge amount to make people forget the real situation in the glory of T-culture in the name of Bathukamma festival. The farmers’ continued suicides are the result of government’s refusal to make one time settlement of the loan permanently,” he said.

Whenever Congress questioned the failure of the government, KCR would try to pass the buck to united Andhra Pradesh government, he accused. Stating that today’s adjournment of Assembly till Monday was a ploy to avoiding facing Congress party’s inconvenient questions, the Congress leader alleged.
” Normally, Assembly is adjourned for ten minutes to one hour only to strike rapprochement between the treasury and opposition benches. This type of declaring holiday, when the life of thousands of farmers is hanging in balance, is unheard of,” he said.

The Congress, he said , accorded statehood to Telangana at an enormous cost , not to see the state in tatters. ” Telangana is a mess now. Farmers suicides are all around. Government is not able to extend any help. Daily a dozen farmers are killing themselves cheated by their own government. Financial in discipline ruling roost. On one side there are no funds to help people , on the other, CM spends huge money on luxurious foreign trips, splurging in the name Telangana culture and invites tenders worth Rs 40,000 crore for water grid project,” he said demanding a white paper on the status state finances.

Government, instead of demanding special packages, should first place the facts and figures before the public and gain their confidence. He also said government should take all the parties into confidence to evolve a consensual approach to face the suicides, crisis in agriculture and paucity of funds.
