Pawan Kalyan wants power, but has no candidates

2

Touring extensively in the three north coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had made an appeal to the people to give power to him in the next elections to develop the region. He pledged to focus all his efforts on the backward districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam in the north, Prakasam district in the south and Kadapa, Kurnool, Ananthapur and Chittoor in Rayalaseema region.

The Jana Sena chief came down heavily on the successive governments for neglecting the backward districts of the State which is creating clear divide among the people. He found more unrest in the Uttarandhra as the three districts have been neglected over the years. It was only a few days ago that Jana Sena chief had cautioned the State government of Uttarandhra region seeing agitation like Telangana if the discrimination continued. He is focusing more on this backward region which is the fortress of the ruling Telugu Desam Party for several years.

Jana Sena is yet to find candidates for the next election in several constituencies. The party had not opened its membership yet and is not taking leaders from other parties to give an impression that the party is ready for the 175 constituencies. Interestingly, the party looks for fresh leadership and seems not much interested in taking leaders from other parties.

The State had seen the entry of fresh leaders only twice so far. The first time was in 1978 when Indira Gandhi was expelled from the Congress and was forced to float her own party – All India Congress Committee (Indira). The second time was in 1982 when N T Rama Rao floated his own Telugu Desam Party. The two leaders, Indira Gandhi and NTR, were legends of their time and people had faith in them, which ultimately brought them to power. It was that faith that had prompted several freshers to plunge into active politics leaving their career. Doctors, teachers, advocates, chartered accountants and others have joined the mainstream politics in a large scale believing in these two leaders.

Though Mega Star Chiranjeevi launched a new political party (Praja Rajyam) in 2009 elections, it did not see new faces in the two previous cases. And the situation appears to be same now with Pawan Kalyan starting his new and out outfit. His appeal to the people to give him power without having the candidates to contest all the seats, thus goes unnoticed.

  1. pawan has no knowledge on how to run a state.Just now NITI ayog report said that Vijayanaragam is one of the most improved dist in entire india. pawan is behaving like a typical politician talking with out any responsibility

  2. Are you so stupid that he has to announce his candidates even when elections are still a year (almost)away. He has plenty of time to select them. Even NTR didn’t announce his candidates until elections were called.
