The Bharatiya Janata Party took strong objection to actor turned politician Kamal Haasan’s comment on the alleged Hindu terrorism in the country. BJP senior leader Aswini Upadhyay complained to the Election Commission of India. He demanded that the EC ban the actor from election campaign for five days for his inflammatory speech.

The comments of Kamal, leader of Makkal Needi Mayyum party, created a nation wide controversy. BJP leaders say that these remarks were made by Kamal to impress upon the Muslim voters in Tamil Nadu. Kamal has said that India’s first terrorist was a Hindu which referred to Godse who was a Hindu nationalist responsible for the killing of the Mahatma. Regional leaders like Kamal are provoking religious feelings the same way as that of BJP leaders.
