The Telangana Congress Committee (TPCC) has now realised the need for cashing upon Telangana sentiment that worked to the advantage of the TRS in 2014, by bringing Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s name. As it was her firm determination led to the UPA government to stand firm on bifurcation of the state and realising the decades-old dream of Telangana people for a separate statehood, they felt that would work-out for them to reach masses.

Taking advantage of Sonia Gandhi’s 70th birthday, yesterday TPSS leaders all over Telangana state celebrated the day as Krithagnatha Dinotsavam” (Thankggiving day) for realising their dream of separate statehood for Telangana. Birthday celebrations were organised in all districts of the state on a grand scale. Party party workers conducted blood donation and health-check up camps and also distributed food, fruits and clothes among the poor.

The celebrations began at the party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan with the cutting of cake by the TPCC President. Former Union Mininisters S Jaipal Reddy, Sarve satyanarayana, Balram Naik, TPCC Vice-President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Leader of Opposition in Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, ex-PCC presidents V. Hanumantha Rao and Ponnala Lakshmaiah and host of leaders participated. On this occasion Youth Congress workers organised a blood donation camp.

Speaking on this occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy pointed out that Sonia Gandhi granted statehood for Telangana just to keep her word. She did not bother about the political consequences while granting statehood for Telangana. Instead of giving priority to political gains, Sonia Gandhi fulfilled the aspirations of people of Telangana.

He expressed hope that the people of Telangana would remain indebted to Sonia Gandhi for the historic decision which was first announced on her birthday in 2009. However, accusing that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao cheating the Telangana people, he said that the Chief Minister has been keeping the people confused with his tall-talk and fake claims. He described KCR Government as the most corrupt regime and listed out various scams that surfaced in the recent past.
