GST Additional Commissioner’s statement on Mahesh Babu’s tax dues

A couple of days ago, Hyderabad GST Commissionerate attached the bank accounts of Superstar Mahesh Babu regarding the pending taxes. Soon the actor’s legal team issued a statement revealing interesting updates. Now GST Additional Commissioner Anand Kumar spoke about the entire issue. He clarified that Mahesh Babu failed to pay the taxes for the year 2007-08 and the taxes, interests along with penalty reached Rs 73.5 lakhs.

“Despite of serving notices several times, Mahesh Babu failed to respond and hence we attached his bank accounts and collected the pending dues from his accounts. We recovered Rs 31.42 lakhs from his ICICI Bank and Rs 42.96 lakhs from his Axis Bank account” informed Anand Kumar. Earlier before this Mahesh’s legal team issued a statement that the bank accounts have been attached without serving any notices.

  1. What was this fool and his team of lawyers doing since 2007?? This seems like purposeful evasion of Tax and now covering up the issue that notices were NOT served when commissioner clearly States that they have served notices already and no response was heard from them.
