The cabs drivers in Hyderabad, attached to different IT companies through their cab operators, have been advised against giving lifts to strangers.

The cab drivers have been asked to be extra cautious in view of increasing security threats. Kukatpally ACP Ashok Kumar said except for the employees of designated companies, the cab drivers should not transport any stranger. He said some drivers transport passengers, waiting at bus stops or roadside, to make some extra money. However, he warned this could prove fatal for the entire society as these cabs could be used by suspected persons to carry out their illegal activities.
Ashok addressed the fifth Training and Appraisal Session organised by Telangana State Cabs and Bus Operators Association (TSCBOA) in collaboration with Cyberabad Police and Society for Cyberabad Security Council at Novatis at Madhapur here Saturday,

The training session was also addressed by Krishna Yedula of Cyberabad Traffic Forum, Shankar of Cyberabad Traffic Training Institute and TSCBOA President Syed Nizamuddin.

The experts asked cabs drivers to play an active role in making Hyderabad a safe city. They also asked them to coordinate with the She Teams to ensure safety of women passengers. The drivers were given a Power Point presentation and various clips of women’s safety and traffic rules.

The TSCBOA President informed that the first phase of socio-economic survey of drivers working in Hyderabad was nearing completion. He said that the findings of the survey were quite surprising. It has been found that several highly educated youth are working as cab drivers due to poverty. He said based on the findings, the State and Central Governments would be approached with specific demands to improve the living conditions of all drivers. He also urged the drivers to submit the filled survey forms at the earliest.
