Indo-Pak-like tension building up between Andhra and Telangana: Jagan

YSRC president and Opposition leader today accused chief minister Naidu’s of surrendering the livelihood rights of 5 crore people of Andhra Pradesh to Telangana government for his personal interests. Similarly, the he was critical of Telangana Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for his lack of concern for the tail-end state of Andhra Pradesh and fellow Telugu people with regard to Krishan and Godavari waters.

Addressing a gathering of party workers and people at Kurnool while sitting on a three-day fast Jagan said he would continue his fight against Naidu and KCR’s approach towards sharing of waters from Krishna and Godavari rivers. He warned that both chief ministers should avoid transforming the Telugu states fight like India and Pakistan. He advised them to desist from creating Indo-Pak-like tense situation between the two Telugu states.

Stating that the completion of present project on Krishna and Godavari in Telangana would sound death knell to the people of four Rayalaseema districts as well as Guntur, Krishna, Prakasam and Nellore district, he said both Naidu and KCR would be held responsible for this.
Elaborating on the projects under construction by Telangana government he said chief minister KCR was planning to draw waters at the rate of 2.66 TMC per day from Krishna river upstream Srisailam dam which leaves nothing in Srisailam reservoir.” If the entire water is pumped to the Telangana indiscriminately, would there be any water left in Srisailam to divert to Rayalaseema. If you want to take waters to Rayalaseema from Srisailam the water level should be maintained at 854 ft in Reservoir,” he said.

Even though Telangana government is planning to take entire water from Krishna, he said, Andhra Pradesh CM had not only been silent, but also suggesting that he would have no objection had Telangana got clearance from the centre.

Regarding Godavari projects, Jagan said all the Telangana projects were planned to draw about 70,000 cusecs per day from Godavari. Jagan wondered as to how a Telugu chief minister loses the sight of the plight of fellow Telugu people before planning to draw so much of water from two important rivers in the state.

” This type of attitude is dangerous. KCR will suffer the curse of Rayalaseema people. Instead of fighting for more water rights from usurping upstream states of Maha and Karnataka as a single Telugu people, KCR is making Andhra and Telangana fight like India and Pakistan,” he said and added that objective of his fast was to make two chief minister Naidu and KCR realize the negative consequences of their politics.
