Terming Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, as an economic extremist, TDP general secretary, Nara Lokesh, on Friday said that since the State is now in the hands of such an economic extremist all the resources are being subjected to looting and atrocity is ruling the roost.

Lokesh said that as Jagan has mastered the art of economic crimes some police personnel are fast turning out to be thieves, smugglers and kidnappers. Committing crimes has almost become a habit for some police personnel as Jagan has been making use of them as factionists for his political vendetta, he remarked.

Since the ruling dispensation has been making use of the Crime Investigative Department (CID) officials for kidnaps and black mailings the police personnel have come to a conclusion that they can certainly rule the roost, Lokesh said. These police personnel are forming into various gangs and are resorting to kidnaps and smuggling which is resulting in this system getting totally destroyed, he regretted.

It is really causing a great concern that a sub-inspector, Sujan, who is working with the office of the DIG of Kurnool formed a gang, has kidnapped the chairman of an IT company in the name of a CID team and was caught by the Hyderabad police, Lokesh said in the press note. The police personnel who are well aware that the ganja mafia has the blessings of the top persons in the State Government have become the ganja smugglers, he added.

The incident in which a head constable of the third battalion of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) force at Kakinada along with a constable are caught by the Hyderabad police clearly indicates that the State police personnel have turned into smugglers, Lokesh maintained.

Meanwhile, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu said that for the past four and a half years, Andhra Pradesh had made more headlines for drugs than development. The recent arrest of two police officers from Kakinada in an anti-drug operation in Hyderabad is a matter of deep concern and embarrassment for our state, he said. In light of this regrettable incident, the YSRCP government must address a crucial question of who the mastermind behind this racket is and who are the leaders involved, he asked.
