Telangana Rashtra Samithi is unlikely to share power with MIM in GHMC. Though MIM is projected as the friendly party of TRS, the ruling party which has got 99 seats in 150-strong GHMC council, wants to keep both Mayor and deputy mayor posts to it members.
There has been some talk as a good will gesture KCR would offer the deputy mayor post to MIM. But indications are that a Muslim candidate from among the corporators of TRS will be appointed deputy mayor and it would equally please the Muslim community of Hyderabad.
In lieu of the deputy mayor, MIM members will be offered chairmen of some important committees of GHMC, sources said. According to sources, a nominee of KT Ramarao, the star campainer and GHMC strategist, will become the deputy mayor. Given the proximity to KTR Baba Fasihuddin, who won from Borabanda division, stands a fair chance of becoming deputy mayor, the sources said.
” KCR accords top most priority to the Muslims. Throughout Telangana movement KCR talked very high of Nizams and their rule in Telangana to please Muslim population of the state. Appointment of Mahmood Ali as deputy CM bears testimony to this. Extending the same logic to GHMC he will appoint a minority member deputy mayor,” a TRS leader told telugu360.com and added that it would be in the fitness of things if the post of deputy mayor of Hyderabad city was offered to a Muslim member.
The sources also said chief minister had sought intelligence reports on Fasihudddin. What is weighing in favor of Borabanda corporator is his proximity to the K T Ramarao, the man behind GHMC victory. Baba won the Borabanda division, which is a stronghold of MIM, with a huge margin of 4500 votes. Above all, Fasihuddin has been the votary of Telangana state and he had been with TRS ever since the inception of the party in 2001.
