Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, is scheduled to convene today at the State Secretariat. The meeting will discuss and likely approve a 12-point agenda that includes crucial welfare schemes, administrative reforms, development policies, and infrastructure decisions, all aimed at delivering better governance and public services across the state.
One of the headline decisions expected from the meeting is the formal approval of the much-anticipated free bus travel scheme for women. The initiative, which is likely to be named “Sthree Shakti”, is proposed to be launched on August 15 as a symbolic Independence Day gift to women across Andhra Pradesh.
Another major decision likely to be approved is the issuance of new ration cards, aimed at ensuring more eligible households receive food subsidies. The Cabinet will also deliberate on extending free electricity for barbershops, increasing the current limit from 150 to 200 units, providing additional relief to small service providers in rural and urban areas.
A policy shift is also expected in the form of “LIFT 4.0” (AP Land Initiatives & Tech Hubs Policy 2024–2029), designed to accelerate industrial growth and attract investment in the state’s tech ecosystem.
In terms of land allocations, the Cabinet is set to cancel a previous decision to allot 25 acres of TTD land in Peruru (Tirupati rural mandal) to the Oberoi Hotel Group, signaling a re-evaluation of past land deals to ensure transparency and better public use.
The Cabinet will also take up financial matters, including discussions on providing government guarantees for loans sanctioned to APSPDCL and APCPDCL by the Power Finance Corporation, totalling ₹3,545 crore and ₹1,029 crore respectively. Similarly, ₹900 crore in guarantees to SBI and UBI for power sector-related funding is expected to receive approval.
As part of administrative strengthening, the Cabinet will likely approve the creation of five Assistant Public Prosecutor posts on a regular basis in locations like Puttaparthi, Movva, Gannavaram, Gajuwaka, and Tirupati. Additionally, it is considering expanding staffing in state secretariats to improve public service delivery.
In education, the Cabinet is set to give the green light to several GOs under the School Education Department, alongside approving the Comprehensive AP Media Accreditation Rules 2025, aiming to streamline media-government interactions.
Tourism development is also on the agenda, with expected approval for selecting agencies to operate 22 AP Tourism Development hotels and resorts across six clusters. This is part of the government’s broader vision to enhance tourism infrastructure and boost local employment.
In a significant law and order decision, the Cabinet may extend the ban on Maoist organizations and affiliated groups like the Revolutionary Democratic Front (RDF) for another year, citing security concerns.
Finally, several land allocation proposals related to Amaravati’s development, including plots for various institutions and public services, are also up for discussion.

From supporting women’s mobility to boosting the rural economy and ensuring law and order, the decisions being considered showcase a proactive governance approach under the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu.
