Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi is a hilarious village comedy entertainer featuring Tharun Bhascker and Eesha Rebba in lead roles.
Though the film is a remake, Eesha says it offers a fresh experience. “We made several changes to suit Telugu nativity- in both story and characterisation. The emotions will strike a chord with everyone. While watching, you won’t even feel it’s a remake. Every character feels relatable.”
The trailer includes a scene where Tharun slaps Eesha, and she retaliates. “I love doing films with a bit of action. There are a few slap scenes here. In one shot, chutney had to splash on my cheek, and for it to look natural, the slap had to be real. So yes, I took an actual hit- the tears in that shot are real. There’s also an action sequence where both Tharun and I genuinely got hurt. I learned martial arts during COVID, which helped me a lot.”
Eesha also explained why the Godavari slang came easily to her. “My mother is from Rajahmundry and I spent many summers there, so the accent felt natural. But for Tharun, it was challenging since he mostly played Telangana-based roles. He worked extremely hard, and the output is fantastic. On screen, you’ll only see Omkar Naidu.”
The actress is hopeful that OSSS will become a hit like the original.
