Before getting the nod of Balayya for Paisa Vasool, director Puri Jagannath faced two big rejections, from Megastar Chiranjeevi and NTR Jr. After watching Paisa Vasool, movie lovers say that the senior Mega hero and junior Nandamuri hero were perfectly correct in turning down the mediocre script narrated by Puri. It is heard that Paisa Vasool is the same script that the ‘Pokiri’ maker had narrated to Chiru and NTR.
It may be recalled that before locking Katthi remake, Puri’s ‘Auto Jaani’ was announced as Megastar Chiranjeevi’s comeback film. The project however was called off, and Chiru himself revealed in an interview that he wasn’t satisfied with the second half narrated by Puri.
After the success of ‘Temper’, NTR gave his word to Puri to work with him in another film. Honoring his word, NTR held rounds of discussions with Puri after Janatha Garage. The director however couldn’t convince the actor with his scripts, the subject of ‘Paisa Vasool’ was one of them.
Balayya on the other hand gave his nod to Puri even without listening to the story. He was so impressed by the hero’s characterization that he didn’t bother about the story, which is a rehash of Puri’s earlier movies, mainly ‘Pokiri’.
Now, as ‘Paisa Vasool’ is in theatres, people can understand why the story was rejected by Chiru and NTR.
