Andhra Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju has initiated legal action against the Sakshi media group, alleging that the organization has been publishing defamatory and misleading reports about him. Expressing strong displeasure over what he described as character assassination, Raju has sent legal notices to the management of Indira Television. The notices were also sent to Managing Director Y. S. Bharathi Reddy, along with the editor, bureau chief and members of the board of directors.
In his notice, Raju accused the media group of deliberately portraying him in a negative light before the public through what he termed as false and malicious reporting. He demanded an immediate public apology and the withdrawal of the contested stories. He also warned that failure to respond would compel him to pursue both civil and criminal proceedings under applicable laws.
The Deputy Speaker alleged that the reports were part of a broader political vendetta aimed at damaging his reputation. He made it clear that he would not tolerate what he considers a sustained campaign of misinformation. As part of his legal claim, Raju has sought ₹1 crore in damages for defamation.
In a significant statement, he announced that if the compensation amount is paid, he would donate the entire sum to farmers who contributed land for the development of Amaravati as the state capital. He said the move was intended to demonstrate that his fight is not personal but rooted in principles.
Raghurama Krishnam Raju has asserted that he is prepared to take the matter to court if necessary and will pursue legal remedies to protect his public image and integrity. The development is expected to intensify the ongoing political and media tensions in Andhra Pradesh.
