South Indian Heroes typically fall for the commercial movie trap which limits them in the way roles should be chosen. Born to seasoned Tamil actor Sivakumar, Suriya has proven his mettle to be a unique actor of his own accord. But his most striking performance as the young political activist Michael in Mani Ratnam’s Yuva back in 2004. Even Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was greatly impressed by Suriya’s performance and remade the film in Hindi! Whether it is as Bodhi Dharma in Seventh Sense, as a scientist in 24, or in RGV’s intense film Raktha Charitra 2, one might conclude that Suriya can be confined to only versatile roles. He could also entertain the audience without and out commercial entertainers like Singham which portrayed him as a powerful police officer.
