KCR, Akhilesh discuss proposed front

1

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday met Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao here and discussed the latter’s proposal for formation of a Federal Front.

The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister called on KCR, as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief is popularly known, at his official residence. KCR also hosted a lunch for the visiting leader.

The two leaders discussed the current political situation and the need to bring various political parties together to form a front at the national level. Senior leaders of TRS were also present during the meeting.

The TRS chief, who proposed the front as an alternative to both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, have stepped up his efforts during last few days. He visited Chennai on Sunday to meet DMK leaders M. Karunanidhi and M.K. Stalin.

KCR had mooted the idea of a Federal Front in March to bring “a qualitative change” in the national politics.

At the TRS plenary last week, a resolution was passed towards this effect. AStating that both BJP and Congress miserably failed to address people’s problems during last 70 years, KCR said the front would trigger tremor in the national politics with its agenda for speedy development and for addressing the real issues of people.

KCR has so far held talks with West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, Janata Dal-S President and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and his son H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Hemant Soren and well-known actor Prakash Raj had also called on KCR to discuss the formation of the front.

Rahul, Akhilesh to Attend Public Rally in Guntur on Sunday

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, ex-Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and a host of other leaders will attend a public meeting at Guntur on Sunday to “expose” the TDP and the BJP.

National leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, JDU leader Sharad Yadav, CPI general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, secretary D Raja and others from parties like Trinamool Congress will attend the public meeting, said PCC president N Raghuveera Reddy.

“The TDP and the BJP have taken a complete U-turn after promising SCS for not less than ten years. We want to expose that and also build confidence among people that we are with them on the SCS issue,” said Reddy.

Being organised by the AP Congress Committee, the ‘Pratyeka Hoda Bharosa Sabha’ (confidence-building meeting on special category status) is seen as the party’s desperate effort to rise from the ashes in the state, where it was literally buried in the 2014 elections by the electorate, seething over the bifurcation.

It will be Rahul’s second visit to AP since 2014, after his rather ineffective trip to Anantapuramu district in 2015 for a farmers’ rally.

“(AP CM) Chandrababu Naidu surrendered the state’s interests to the Centre only to save himself from the criminal cases against him. Hence, he is cheating the people on SCS by claiming that the special economic package is much better,” alleged PCC secretary and former minister S Sailajanath.

“Leaders of various national parties will pledge support to AP’s cause, at the public meeting in Guntur tomorrow,” Sailajanath added.

Jagan, Pawan go for poll strategists as Naidu hints at early poll

Vijayawada: The early polls indication given by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has become the talk of the State for the past couple of days. The hint dropped by Chandrababu Naidu had alerted the rivals to get ready for the battle. While Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had welcomed the early polls move, YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy is said to be launching consultations with the experts.

Jana Sena chief had held first round of consultations with elections strategist Steve Jarding at Boston during his recent visit to US. Jarding, a lecturer at the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harward, played key role in the election strategy for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Though Akhilesh Yadav failed to deliver this time, Jarding did not lose his popularity as he had already hinted at the negative trend that Akhilesh was having this time.

With Chandrababu Naidu’s announcement on early elections, Jana Sena chief had already reacted positively welcoming the decision. He said his party was ready for the elections whenever they come. He had already started recruiting the party leaders as advised by Jarding. He believes that this recruitment would help his party stand strong as the Left parties do with their whole-timers.

Meanwhile, Jaganmohan Reddy, is learned to have started holding consultations with strategist Prashant Kishore on his election strategy. Prashant Kishore is currently the adviser to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the 2015 elections. He also worked for Narendra Modi in the 2014 elections. While Kishore is contemplating on joining the Congress party this time, it is said that Jaganmohan Reddy wants the strategist to help his party in the State.

While the two leaders are getting ready with the renowned political strategists, Machiavellian politician he is, Chandrababu Naidu has his own ways to lead his party to victory. Unlike the other two leaders, Naidu does not require any strategist to face the elections and he is marching ahead on his plans for early polls.
