Bug in Apple phones: Displaying one Telugu character (ఙ్ఞా) crashes the phone

0

This is really as stunning news. Apple phones are known for their reliability, and for being highly tech-savvy. But it seems, one Telugu character (ఙ్ఞా)crashing Apple’s apps.

Apple is working urgently to fix a bug in its latest software update that crashes applications that display a particular letter from the south Indian language Telugu. Typing or receiving a message that contains the letter causes apps such as Gmail, Instagram or WhatsApp to crash. If the symbol shows up in a notification, iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches and TVs and even some desktops can go into a bootloop, endlessly restarting without booting up.

Anyone sent a message including the letter has been advised to delete the entire thread. Phones or other devices that crash and go into a bootloop may need to be wiped and restored. This glitch affects iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watch and Apple TV running the latest versions of their operating software.
