Bubblegum Movie Review

Telugu360 Rating : 2.25/5

The definition of youthful films has changed over the recent years. These films are filled with kisses and steamy episodes. Apart from these, a strong and hard-hitting content is needed for the youth to watch films in theatres. Animal and Baby are such cult films. Rajeev Kanakala and Suma’s son Roshan Kanakala is making his debut as an actor with Bubble Gum. Kshanam fame Ravikanth Perepu is the director and Manasa Chowdary is the heroine. People Media Factory backed this youthful entertainer and Bubble Gum released today in theatres. Here is the review of Bubble Gum:

Story:

Aadhi (Roshan Kanakala) is a youngster who hails from a slum and he believes that self respect in the need for any man. He dreams of becoming a DJ in his career. Jaanu (Manasa Chowdary) enters his life and she comes from a wealthy family. She aims to study abroad and settle well. But she falls in love with Aadhu. Because of a small communication gap, Jaanu doubts Aadhi and this irritates him. Aadhi decides to take his own path and works towards his aim. The rest of Bubble Gum is all about what happens next.

Analysis:

Every film is written with an aim. If the story of Bubble Gum is decoded, it says that all those who failed in love need not turn Devadas and they should work towards their future and aim. Bubble Gum narrates about self love. The opening scene of Bubble Gum looks bold as the hero is introduced riding a bullet with an underwear on. The film heads into the flashback and it narrates about family emotions, friendship and love. The love story kickstarts after the entry of Jaanu’s character. Jaanu’s character looks ultra modern and Aadhi’s role has a mass touch. The heroine’s role leaves the audience puzzled . Bubble Gum also resembles several love stories. The first half of Bubble Gum looks flat without any interesting episode.

The interval episode narrates about how Aadhi gets insulted and why he is presented in an underwear. The second half of Bubble Gum is the revenge drama of Aadhi. The revenge drama too gets diluted after Aadhi meets Jaanu. He turns emotional after meeting her and they get intimate. Soon, he reminds about his self respect. The director misses the clarity about driving the story. The second half also has the shades of Bommarillu when the heroine is shifted to the hero’s house. Some of the episodes in the second half are completely clueless.

Some of the episodes look forced and they are meaningless. There is a lot of cinematic liberty taken throughout which dilutes the emotional drama. Aadhi decides to take revenge on Jaanu but he joins a job for a salary of Rs 30000. Some of these episodes are logicless. The director wanted to impress the youth and the songs are filled with steamy kisses. The director wanted to preach the youth to love themselves more than anyone in this world but the message was not`conveyed well. The director explained the same during the climax.

Performance:

Roshan is one more youngster with ease and he looked natural. He is a perfect apt for the role of Aadhi. He did the dances well. Manasa Chowdary looked different in each frame and she has to work a lot and improve on the performance side. She looked like a sister to Roshan in Bubble Gum. Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s brother essayed the role of hero’s father and he performed well. Brahmanandam has a cameo in Bubble Gum and all the other actors were good in their limited roles.

Among the songs, the mass number was decent. The music director picked up a loud background score which made no impact. The production values of Bubble Gum are apt. The film’s director Ravikanth Perepu created confusion as he lacked clarity. Though he picked up a revenge drama, Bubble Gum gets deviated from the basic plot.

Bubble Gum is not an apt title for the film and the film is a mixed bag.
