The film industry in Hyderabad has an umbilical chord that connects to Chennai. The past three weeks saw Chennai being battered with incessant rains that threw normal life out of gear, rendering thousand homeless,bringing the city down to its knees. The Telugu film artistes responded spontaneously and donated whatever they could and the smaller actors too followed suit.It began with Suriya announcing his bit and that was followed by Allu Arjun who gave 25 lakhs to the CM Relief Fund. Varun Tej gave three lakhs and Mass Maharaj Ravi Teja announced five lakhs. More are expected to follow. Last year when Vishakapatanam was hit by Hudhud cyclone, the Chennai counterparts too responded in the same manner.
